"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

I got a number today from a HB and the girl is going away next week for spring break. I'd like to see your opinions on whether I should call her tomorrow and arrange something or wait till she gets back and arrange something then (I'm leaning toward the latter). Your opinions?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Wait two days, call her on the second day and set up a date for about the 4th day.

By the sixth day, call her again and see if you can arrange something the day before she leaves. You normally wouldn't want to move that fast, but in this case you want to get her invested in you a little bit and you need to accelerate things a bit, but not come across as needy or clingy.

I'd totally scratch that two days, and call her tomorrow. There's a high possiblity of a flake here...'tired...packing, other friends, etc', and you have to secure her before anyone else.

That, and pretty well call her 10 minutes beforehand and say, time for our date. No questions asked, and she can't flake because her dog just died. To really pull this off indirectly, you call her up 10 minutes before and ask her what she's up to, what she has planned, and pretty well drop it on her, 'Well! You're not going to be bored the whole night, we're going out'

When you say 10 minutes before, I'm not sure what you are referring to. Can you re-explain? Thanks.

And I think I will take your advice and give her a call tomorrow night and set up a coffee get together later this week.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

Forget the coffee, chief.

Get active. Get her to play basketball, go skiing/sled riding (if you are in a colder location), go for a walk.

I'm a big fan of "action" dates in the first couple of dates. You'll make a much more memorable impression on her that if you just hooked up for some coffee.

ie: You set your date (if you want, I do this whole thing a little differently). Good.

10 minutes before you get to her place (works better in places NOT like Toronto :)), you call her up and ask her what she's doing right now, what she has planned. Irregardless, it's the element of surprise if she's forgotten that's going to get you your date when you dump it on her that you are PICKING HER UP in 10 MINUTES (and she already told you she wasn't doing anything).

Or best case, she'll say a date with you. :D

I already told her coffee when I got her # but I'll think about what you said. An easy hike comes to mind.

Anyway, thanks for the advice guys.

I've always favored the dinner-type-date, but it hasn't been serving me all that well lately. I think you may be right about the need for action.
