Where did this nickname come from? I know Sugar Ray was also given this name too. I'm doing a class presentation on Oscar and would like to know some info on this.

Oscar De La Hoya is a well-known boxing champ who goes by the nickname The Golden Boy. Oscar recieved his nickname after being the only U.S. boxer to win a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics.

The ORIGINAL name was given to Art Aragon, which was a boxer back in the day.

Now...ODLH was the only U.S. Olympian to win a Gold Medal in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and he was coined as the golden boy because of that.
