I moved to my current location 5 months ago, and it just happens to be in one of the richest counties in the country. It’s full of auto-industry executives and higher-ups. The median family income is $135,000 in my town, while the national average around $50,000. Lamborghinis and Maseratis are always scattered on the downtown streets on a weekend night. Valet parking at basically 50% of the restaurants.
Another observation: I see a ton of butt-ugly dudes with some really beautiful women.
I’m 35. My girlfriend decided 5 months ago to go out with me when I was essentially broke and had a couch, TV, bed, VW Jetta, and a bass guitar to my name. She was attracted to my looks and my personality and not my wealth. My salary skyrocketed three months into us dating when I landed this amazing job. Her views of me have not changed in the slightest.
So I was out with my girlfriend last night, eating at one of the finer establishments in town, and we got into the discussion of how women view money.
I asked her why some women can subject themselves to such disgusting looking, rich guys. I mean, how can they even get in the mood to take their clothes off and enjoy the physical intimacy with someone they don’t find physically attractive?
My girlfriend told me this - and my mind was blown:
“It just doesn’t matter to them. These women will actually think about new cars, big houses, and money when they are in the middle of a sexual act with these guys. They will give the guy just enough sex to keep him satisfied, but her focus isn’t really the guy, it’s her social standing and what SHE can get from that relationship. It’s how they survive.”
I then asked her if she thinks the males in these relationship are clueless to this. She says:
“Maybe not. But most of these guys are VERY insecure, so they need to feel complete by having some woman around them. They will take whatever scraps they throw at them. It’s a win-win situation. In fact, most some of these woman actually prefer an ugly guy, because he’s less likely to stray and not leave her penniless."
My girlfriend works at Fortune 500 company and is a top earner. She sees just how pathetic and deeply insecure some of these guys are behind the scenes. Some of them just hate themselves period. She’s told me some incredible stories about how toxic these corporate environments are.
I hate gold-diggers. But my conversation regarding gold-diggers had me hate some of these guys even more for enabling this type of behavior. I understand loneliness, but I don’t understand keeping a woman around who blatantly uses you and doesn’t find you physically attractive. These women should be kicked to curb. Unfortunately there are so many beta providers, even at the top-level, that this type of behavior will always be acceptable.
On the flip-side, my girlfriend had legitimate concerns about me taking this job. She was worried about a whole new batch of women throwing themselves at me and her being discarded. She knows how nasty and deceptive a woman can be and what lengths they will go for money.
Yes, we should avoid gold-diggers, but more importantly we should not play the role of enablers or providers.
We should not accept scraps of affection. Otherwise we’ll just end up as empty and sad as the gold-diggers themselves.
