"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

Basically I'm going off on my own for the first time to Saint Louis University to start the college life (hell, first time I've lived outside of my own state) and I'm just having some anxiety about the unknown and what the future holds for me. In addition, I want to be a film producer (I feel as though I have this incredible vision and passion for making films since I was a little kid) but I don't know if I can make it in that industry and I feel like the logical choice would be to just pick a definiate career path like everyone else that would make me a generous amount of money and stay safe.

I guess this is the whole "take a chance and follow your dreams" deal, I know how it ends in the movies, but I want to think realistically here. I'm wondering what your guys' take on this is? Anyone speaking from experience that could offer me some much-needed wisdom?

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

Yo Brighty- you are about to enter a whole new world. Anxiety and fear of the unknown are natural. Don't sweat it. The beauty part of your situation, is that everyone around you is entering that realm of life under the same or at least very similar circumstances. The majority of people do not know anyone when they go, which makes meeting people easy and necessary and part of the whole experience. Do not sweat the future too much, just enjoy the moment that you are in. I don't mean go out and get bombed every night, sleep through class and fail out...but you are a long ways off from that be-all, end-all career and these days most people change 'careers' many times.

If you have a passion for film, you have to ****ing go for it. Cut-throat industry, work is usually feast or famine, but you have to stick to your guns. My sister's fiance is a producer in television out in Hollywood. He goes through droughts sometimes and talks about switching careers to something more traditional. I think this is the easy way out, especially if you have a passion for it. If showbiz is not really for you, that is one thing, but if you love it and then give it up you will look back one day and regret it. I am in a very traditional career with a track to money, status, good job, etc. but it is not for me. My job has been very good to me, but I can tell you this is not what I want to do for the rest of my life because it just doesn't fit, so right now I am building my bank account so I can free myself of a day-job for about a year.

If you do not go out and follow your dreams, you will regret it. You can always fall back into a paper-pushing job, with a house, a wife, a two car garage with two over-priced metal coffins that you fight traffic with all the rest of the lemmings on the way to another day of office monotony, 2.5 kids and the coulda, woulda, shoulda outlook....but if you don't go for it, you will never know. And if you 'fail', life is just giving you the opportunity to build character and resolve and learn from your experience, an opportunity that you will not get if you take the typical 'easy' way out. Granted, my easy way out has been filled with late-nights, grad-school, long work-weeks, etc....but for what it's worth I knew from my first grad school class that the 'career' wasn't for me, but I had been given an opportunity that others had been denied, and I had quit other things in my life and regretted that so I decided that I would not give up but if they kicked me out fine. I didn't go the track of the rest of my classmates but I am in the field that they are, however I travel quite a bit, which was the motivating factor in my decision to pursue this career. And like I said I have an objective I am pursuing, and for now my job is a means to an end.

Dude, at 18, heading to college in a few weeks in a new city, new state, this is your opportunity to spread your wings and fly...Try new stuff. Talk to people, especially the girls that you will be surrounded by.

Try to get an internship at a television station in St.Louis to get a feel for being behind the scenes.

I read somewhere, can't remember where and don't know how they gauged it, that statistically speaking the first three weeks of college are the most promiscous of an American girl's life. Take advantage of that. I didn't my freshman year because I was in 'love' and invloved in a relation****...however the next few years I definitely did.

People get that glazed-over look in their eyes when they talk about college for a reason...because it is a blast.

Rock out with your...

GO FOR IT.

It's natural to feel that anxiety, but remember that you're at the age where NOW is the time. Get that diploma, and in the meantime while you're in school, start making films (for free). There are plenty of creative people in college that would love to get some acting experience. Those relationships may fuel something in the future, and you build your chops up at the same time.

I would also suggest studying marketing techniques (school or on your own time) to help promote yourself.

Thanks man. Seriously, thank you. I feel a lot better now.

And Premium, thanks for the tip about studying marketing techniques, that seems like really valuable advice as well.

INSIDE YOUR HEAD!
Enjoy your freedom while you have it - it becomes scarce as you get older.

"Enjoying your youth" means enjoying your freedom and possibilities!, and the freedom to have possibilities!

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.
