"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

I've had two girls thru online dating in the past week agree to meet me but did not want to give out their number. One wanted to use KIK. I refused and told her I was no longer interested.

I told the second one that I don't meet with people that don't give out their number. She understood and told me she had a bad experience so she no longer does then says "well I guess we weren't meant to be". I'm thinking...thanks for lumping me in the same category. Maybe you should screen better.

So is this the newest layer of protection they use to guard against guys that get pissed when they flake, or won't stop texting them, etc?

Are you guys agreeing to dates with these girls?

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

It's standard practice for girls to not give out their number in 2017 (who cares why), and I don't see why you need it anyway since girls don't want to talk on the phone in 2017 but would rather text which the apps they tried to give you work for. All you did was flush away 2 potential plates for no reason. Hang with the times man.

Yeah but I don't have kik, whatever that is. Some of us don't use social media.

I had this happen last week. The girl wouldn't give me her number because "she's careful about giving out her number," but she offered to add me on Facebook. I don't use Facebook. I didn't offer any alternative, because I don't really HAVE any alternative.

I mean, do I really need social media to be able to converse with girls? Do I need to have accounts just for **** like this? Seems dumb.

You can feel whatever you want but what are you gonna do about it? it takes a couple of minutes to download kik and make an account, a text service you only have to use to set up meetings with your plates, then your troubles are gone.

And if she wants your snapchat by the way, odds are good she wants to fvck soon (either that or is a grade #1 AW).

Sometimes you don't even need to ask for it. Everything can be setup within the app itself. Then, if they offer, it shows a bit higher interest. There is no cut and dry answer though as it seems to be all over the place and varying schools of thought. I usually just play each encounter by ear. I keep hearing more and more stories about guys who text and text and text and text and text, so that could be a good reason why attractive women don't want to give out their numbers... It is much easier to block someone on an app. You can get around blocking someone's phone number by hiding your number or contacting them from another phone.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

Here's what I don't like:
1. I can't put their number into faKebook and see more pics of them.
2. Its another damn hoop to jump thru, its another road block, it puts their value/wishes above mine.
3. She is already assuming I am a nut job right out of the gate.
4. I don't need to download another stupid app on my phone to communicate with some silly chic because she said to do so.

Maybe I should start using a fake name until she proves she isn't a psycho stalker?

1. It's easy to get pics from girls on apps.
2. Pvssy makes the rules before sex, d!ck makes the rules after sex. That's the animal kingdom bro.
3. No, she's guarding against the possibility. That's not an assumption.
4. You're right, you don't. Just let someone else get that pvssy. She's the spawn of satan anyway for wanting to use a texting app. Maybe if you download it, it's gonna destroy your phone and give you a terminal disease. Stay away from all of em.

I agree much of this is a circle jerk. But the younger girls use social media as primary communication means. Even Facebook is functionally obsolete to them.

I'm with @Howiestern that if a woman won't make it easy she isn't interested. I mean what a stupid answer "I had a bad experience once"...

I mean A) what the Sam Hill does THAT mean and more importantly

B) how is that related to you?

Men worth dating know better than to waste time anyway. The artist I am seeing didn't text me at all until just before our first date. And by just before I mean 10 minutes before...to let me know where he was seated in the venue. Rather he asked me out for a specific day/time/place/location right over the dating platform. I said yes and showed up. Simple.

Don't put up with BS and get all complicated. You don't want Miss Fussbucket Bossypants! If that who she is....ABORT!

Would you rather her give you her number and not agree to meet you? Personally I don't even like to give out my phone number to a girl these days. There is email/facebook/snapchat/Kik. Phone number is a little too personal now.

If their interest level is high enough to arrange a face to face meeting in person, arrange the meet and be so good that she is forced to give you her phone number.

Dont put the cart before the horse. Get your foot in the door, and then wow her.

I had a date recently with a girl that didn't want to give me her ph#.

We communicated through the match app. Well she was late and tried to message me by using my messages that were forwarded to her email. That dosent work.

I ended up leaving after 30 minutes and received a book apology via match latter.

Oh boy, this is what happens when you lose the ability to meet women in real life. What is the world coming to.

At least in my experience, every girl who refused to give their number and instead offered some other form of contact (facebook/telegram) have gone ghost/flaked when dates come by.

If a girl is making you jump through hoops this early its a bad sign. Either she isn't all that interested or she has been burned by too many guys in the past.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Any response other than a phone number when I ask for it, is an instant NEXT. My asking is a privilege upon an OLD woman--not a request. I could give a fvck about "losing," as who is truly losing?
Agreed. If some chick is going to try to make you jump through hoops AND join the circus of anti-social media apps you might as well wear a red nose and oversized clown shoes.

I don't have time for social media apps nonsense. I'll gladly let other clowns dance for the chick.

Same reason I call over texting. I'll text but call and talk at different times. More of a step forward in connecting.

Why stand in line on anti-social media when you cut to the front with her number? Unless you're that desperate to see how a certain "movie" plays out.

In however I meet a woman, I expect full compliance in all my engaging requests beginning from "Hello" and to the relation. Otherwise, she's out. The only exception I allow is reasonable resistance to sex as I understand she is protecting her image.

If more men adopted this philosophy, we wouldn't have a forum.
