i play blackjack and go to the casinos once every couple month. I always come home a winner but my g/f thinks i should stop going (i dunno why). Apparently she thinks i'll lose all my money or something. Is she controlling/not respecting me? Or just caring?

Fvck that. You do what you like to do - there's nothing wrong with going every now and again.

if you like going and you aren't taking out a 2nd mortgage to feed a gambling problem, i say keep going.

i see this all the time on this board. some b|tch starts to think she has control over the MAN and starts demanding things. tell her that it's your hobby and if she doesn't like it she knows the way out of the door.

Try bringing her with you once.

In the alternative, ask her what her problem is with you going.

If you only do it every couple of months... then i can't see the problem. Just tell her that your going to keep doing it as it's one of ur hobbies and something you enjoy.

I agree with Pappy - Talk you her about it if she making it into an issue, ask her why she wants you to stop ? Then you can base ur decision on that (whether shes caring or just being controlling).

Invite her a long sometime - maybe she just see's gambling as 'EVIL!!!'

Tell her its either gambling or hitting the strip clubs :)

1. if you were going once a month or more then you'd have a problem

2. you come home mostly even or a winner.

3. It's not a womans place to speak like this. she needs to know her place.

4. It starts with her controlling you on this little thing and then it expands...called a ho test.

5. Even though she is only acting out of her own fears of losing money...it's your fawking money...

yep pretty much sums up about 99% of people on this site.

Problem is that most of them have never had a LTR or are bitter because they had a bad LTR! Work it out, this is such a petty little problem.

My Guess: She doesnt want you to turn to gambling, I know a friend who got addicted SLOWLY, it happens very slowly, now he cant stop and spends his whold pay cheque.

Omg you're a moron, next your g/f just because she cares enough about you to make want to make sure you don't lose your money and become upset..

See in a relationship! g/f b/f it's not ALL about YOU!, and what YOU want to do, a relationship is a compromise, and fools like you who read this site way too much, begin to misenterpret and misunderstand its basic concepts.

That's the biggest problem with this site and people on it.

Most people assume everything is for One night stands or just getting the chic, but once they get some chic they like, they can't sway from the rules or it's over.

RELATIONSHIPS = communication and compromise.

Hell, i'd actually respect the girl more if she cared enough about me to not want me to go gambling. I grew up near a gambling city and let me tell you, there were plenty of YOUNG people who had problems.

It started out all nice and slow, nothing bad, but then eventually, they did take out second mortgages.

And THE BIGGEST problem I see with you,

" I play blackjack and go to the casinos once every couple month. I always come home a winner "

when a gambler says they come home a winner everytime, you already have a problem.

It's a known fact CASINOS have things stacked against you. It's their business to take your money. They don't want to give it away. Yes, you'll win here and there so you want to come back, so you have that feeling of winnning.

ANd NO matter what you play, black jack, craps, roulette, slot machines, etc it's not about having skills, I mean there have been card counters in LAS VEGAS that were caught and either taken to jail, or are still out in the desert. It's about the casino making it's money. They don't want you to win.

there once was a contest at this one casino, where you had to guess a 4 digit lock combo and you'd win 20 million bucks. THe reason why nobody won, it wasn't a 4 digit combo. It was a 5. ANd the reason they got away with it, was because of some loophole or something. Hey, THEY make billions because the casinos know how to take money from people.

ANyway, that was off the topic, the problem seems to be, you already have a problem. If you coming to this site complaining about some minor issue cause your gf shows concern, it can only lead to worse things. Gambling isn't what it's cracked up to be.

Besides, why would you want to spend most of your time with OLDER RETIRE PEOPLE.

Card counting is totally legal. My uncle is a dealer in Beluxy Mississippi. They look down upon it and can throw you out but they can't put you in jail or anything. Plus they play with 4 deck in their shoe so card couting really isn't that effective no matter what system you use.

I dont even like blackjack, I love hold'em.

card counting might be legal, but casinos watch for it, and certain governments have been trying to ban it,

read below,

--------------------

Governments Join War Against Card Counters
by Professor I. Nelson Rose

Law-makers around the world are beginning to agree with casino executives that drastic measures are needed to prevent skillful players from beating the game of blackjack.

State legislatures, casino regulators, attorneys general and judges have let casinos impose special rules against card-counters which would have been unthinkable as recently as ten years ago.

Examples can be found virtually everywhere blackjack is played for money.

A case gaining worldwide attention has been pending in Australia for more than a year. On May 4, 1999 Andrew Scott Alodged a submission@ (in America we would say Afiled a petition@) with the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority (AVCGA@).

Casinos in the U.S. often prohibit skilled blackjack players completely. The Crown Casino in Melbourne did something slightly different to Scott. It put him on its Arestricted players@ list.

ARestricted@ is an accurate description of how Scott was treated. He was not barred. But he could only bet A$25 (US$14) a hand, no more, no less.

For a card counter, especially one whose opening bet was normally A$100 (US$59), being restricted to relatively low flat bets was the same as being thrown out the door.

Just to make sure Scott got the message, the casino took other counter-measures, such as shuffling after only half a deck had been dealt.

There is no doubt that everything the Crown Casino did to Scott was perfectly legal. State casino regulators in Victoria, like their counterparts in New Jersey and other jurisdictions, had expressly given casinos permission to foil skillful players. VCGA Blackjack Rule 5.12 reads, AA gaming shift manager may limit a player to the minimum wager displayed on the sign at a blackjack table.@ Blackjack Rule 4.5 allows the dealer to put the cut card in the middle of a deck or multi-deck shoe.

Understanding the value of publicity, both to his case and his business (Scott teaches card counting for A$1,500 (US$880) for a weekend), he publicly challenged Crown chief executive, Lloyd Williams, to a A$100,000 (US$59,000) game
