"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

Been friends with this girl for a few years. Basically an ex-that-wasn't. I know some guys say "platonic friendship with women doesn't exist", and I will say I find her attractive (and she still flirts with me although she isn't single). But it's a genuine friendship.

I'm confident in saying I'm not in orbiter territory because I don't see her much, it's a 2-way exchange of effort and obviously I've been dating lots of girls the whole time.

Anyway, she met my parents a few years ago at a big social do and didn't talk to them too much. But recently she keeps saying stuff like "Say hi to your folks from me" or even mentioning her own parents, like "My mother says hi and hopes you're well", which seems a little odd because I only met her mother once like 3 years ago.

It's surprising she even remembers me, much less that the girl is apparently telling her more about me and when we're meeting?

Recently we had a few beers and she got a bit flirty (though she has a BF so I ignored this)...afterwards she said she wants to get more drinks with me another time, but here's the weird thing, she also said "We should do drinks with your mother one night too. I'd love to get her drunk and chat with her."

Anyone had experience with anything like this? It's not behaviour I have any kind of issue with (it's kind of endearing actually), but at the same time she's the only girl who's ever done that with me.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

I think she had a major fight or issue with her own parents.

She likes you like a brother (small flirting, inviting your mother to drink with them).

She ain't trying to lay you.... She's trying to have a mother to talk to.

It's alright to have platonic relationships etc. Your friends always have a "big" impression of your parents (female and male friends), like if we were "kids" .... So parents do matter in term of background when dealing with friendship.

You probably saw the chart that measure the % of influence in a women decision to LTR.... Parents liking you are like 10%..friends liking you 30%, sex 50% lol... etc..

My 2 cents... having lived and LTR a women who was really close with her parents but had "lost" them... she was always trying to see "her parents" in "my parents" .

In short, your friend... she wants to have a motherfigure in her life so that's why she insert "your mother, your parents" .

Something brought the change in her obviously.

Unless you are in a country where dating is monitored by the mother/parent....

She's looking for a new mother while she fix her issues (with her family)

Actually, this is an excellent point. I totally forgot that her Dad walked out on her and seems a bit of a d*ck, I guess she sees stability in my family.

Kind of depressing I'm getting sidelined for drinks for a drink with my parents, but she means it in a sweet way I'm sure...lol. I'm such a nice guy. Goddammit.

I guess it's the same reason I value her a lot because she's chilled and laid back - my parents are more conservative, so I get from her what I don't get at home.

No such thing as platonic friendships between male and female, as it always have feelings involved one way or the other.

An example is you.

Need I say more?
