"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

I recently started dating this chick who I KNOW is 19. (A quick internet search pulls up the old birth announcement in the local newspaper archives)
She tells me she is 20 and how she is looking forward to her 21st birthday next year, even though I know she just turned 19 a few months ago. My question is why would she do this?

I mean when I was a couple years younger I had to deal with 17 year old girls telling me they were 18 all the time, but that at least makes sense. 18 is a legal adult so I get why they would do it.

I could even understand her lying if I was significantly older than her (late 20s/30s), but I'm not. I'm 22 and she knows this. 19 and 22 isn't uncommon so I just don't get what she thinks she has to gain by telling me she is 20.

Insights?

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

no clue but do you really want to spend your time with someone who would lie like this? if you dont call her on this then she understands that she can lie about other things and you'll never know. Show her your drivers license picture and say it is the ugliest pic ever and then ask to see hers b/c you're sure it's adorable. If she refuses to pony up her DL you have a huge issue sitting in front of you.
She want to drink....
That crossed my mind as well

Well if she wanted to drink, why wouldn't she go with saying she's 21?

Also I was thinking the driver license thing would be a good idea

She slipped up and I playfully got her to confess. The I teased the **** out of her for it and told her I knew the whole time. I think she got the message that she can't get away with lying to me.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

She didn't want you to think she was too young for you or treat her like a kid
