Gifts for my situation...

First off, I'm 19, broke, and I work as a host in a dope restaurant.

I've been with this girl for a while. We're into each other a lot and all that. The thing is, we have a weird relationship. She has a lot of money and a rich family suburban life, while I'm the broke, caring inner city guy. She knows not to expect money and material things from me. Thats why shes amazing. She's real about the feelings we have together. I truly feel she cares about me.

Onto the point..... other guys have tried getting her $200 necklaces before to win her over. It didn't work. I have won her over just being myself and this girl is all i really ever wanted. In the past this one guy gave her a very expensive ring as a form of them being together. You know...stuff like that.

So i'm sayin, what can a broke guy get this girl for her birthday and make it mean something. Gift occasions come very often and thats one of the only things I'm bad at doing....buying gifts.

So help me out please.

Im glad you asked cause this is something that I am dead sure about.

It really doesnt matter how much money you have. Starman is right on track. I remember once I was walking to my girlfriends house and had a spare-of-the-moment decision to just pick this little crappy flower/weird thing and give it to her cause it was right next to the path. It was just as a half joke cause it was so tacky but she loved it so much and would'nt shut up about it.

The point is that it doesnt really matter what you get her or how expensive it is. Like starman said, make her something. This will make it personal. Or get her something reltively cheap from one of those craft/pottery/glassware shops that chicks love.

My GF once said "It doesnt matter what you get me as long as its from you" .. i believe almost all chicks think along these lines.

Get her something that has some personal value. Does she have a favorite animal? A favorite flower? Some TV show/DVD she likes? A CD from her favorite band? Some candles? A perfume that she likes that turns you on?

Maybe even tickets to a movie or show somewhere...not just some boring-ass fancy restaurant...somewhere where she'll have a good time.

When you give it to her, give it with that attitude of, "I know you and I know you would want this." Don't approach it like, "I hope this gift makes you love me more/keeps you loving me." You are the man...she either loves you with/without gifts, or she doesn't. The gift is merely an expression.

And if all else fails, give her a "pearl necklace."

When people say make her something....i can't really comprehend. I mean, if i was like 12 or something I'd draw her a pretty birthday card or something.

How am i supposed to do something like that near the age of 20? What do people make or give nowadays?

Any examples?

Dude, you just need to learn to cook a dish and a side. Women love guys that can get around in a kitchen. Anyone can buy jewelry of flowers, that takes NO talent what so ever. I cooked dinner for my current girl on our second date, the next morning she got up and cooked us breakfast

Dude, you just need to learn to cook a dish and a side. Women love guys that can get around in a kitchen. Anyone can buy jewelry of flowers, that takes NO talent what so ever.

Make a nice dinner and use side dishes that are either frozen or that comes in an envelope (easy as hell to cook). Follow it up with a baked pie from your grocer's freezer. Finish with a couple of newly released DVDs and some microwave popcorn and you're done. The entire night could be done for about 20-30 bucks.

Youdon't have to give gifts you can give occasions once I drove my girlfriend out of town so we could have a picnic dinner watching the sunset from the top of a cliff by the sea. $10 gas $10 bottle of wine $ 10 food - she never shut up about it.
