Since I was a little kid I always prided myself in being the one who got his way. With family, with friends, with basically anybody... I usually found a way to get my way.
Allthough there may have been many reasons why I got my way ranging from looks, to intelligence, to psychology
... hahaha riiiight..... there was ONE thing that always made me the one who usually won out in the end.
NOT COMPROMISING.
If somebody didn't wanna play ball the way I wanted to play they knew I would quit (rather childish I know), If somebody was going to try and push me into going somewhere I didn't want to go they knew I would choose instead to stay home, If I got into an argument most people knew I'd get the last word (once again rather childish at times). I'd say what I thought to somebodys face rather than sit there and think about it in front of them.
In the end I think most people stopped bothering trying to win against somebody they knew wouldn't compromise (or stop).
It's sort of like you only have to get in a fight a couple times and people won't mess with you... with me I was uncompromising for a period in my younger life and then as things developed I didn't really have to act childish to get my way because people didn't even try to push me.
this brings me to a major issue along the lines of not compromising.
when you say you're going to do something, DO IT. it doesn't matter what it is or if you later decide it's not important. doing what you say is more important than deciding what you said wasn't important and CHANGING YOUR MIND.
when you tell somebody no they better know that's what you mean.
when you don't like something people should know you aren't going to be lead along anyway.
later on as life progressed i figured out that this really came into play in all my relationships from before high school until now. you've got these women who are always testing testing testing.
if you are the compromising sort you will eventually start failing failing failing.
you may be convinced that you were wrong in some situation and its better to change your mind... when this happens you should always consider the impact of changing your mind and making compromises.
do it once and its a slippery slope.
be strong, even if it hurts, and dont compromise.
p.s. i know a lot of you may think "but DEKKA... compromising is a neccessary part of a working relationship... blah, blah, blah..." you are right... its a womans job to compromise
