"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

This is my senior year and I only have a month and a half before I'm done with everything. As I look back to the past 3-4 years, I gotta say I've learned more than any class could teach me both on sosuave and the HS experience in general.

This is for those who might need a little guidance, feel lost, or just need some words of wisdom:

1) Friends are overrated. There is no such thing as a true friend in highschool, because either way, some bull**** rumor will turn them against you...Remember that in highschool, there is always the constant reputation battle, so if you can step back from this stupididity then your life will be much more relaxed.

Be cool with everyone, try not to make enemies. This is given, the fewer enemies you have, the fewer rumors will spread and the amount of ****talk behind your back will lessen.

2) People WILL talk **** behind your back no matter what, and rumors will ALWAYS spread no matter what. Keep this in mind and don't pay attention to it.

3) Try new things. Take advantage of all opportunities you school offers. This is something I regret. I was always excited about trying something new, but if it was associate with the school, I never wanted to waste my time, but now I look back and regret not taking advantage of them.

Don't be afraid to explore. May this be sexually, academically, or extracurricularly... Highschool is all about creating yourself.

4) Learn to relax in all situations. Don't stress over grades. Grades are merely a letter on a piece of paper, do not use this as any indication to what kind of person you are. Don't stress out before tests, it'll only **** you over when time comes. Don't stress over girls. And most importantly, don't let peer pressure stress you out, do what your heart desires, it's your life.

5) Don't let drinking or any of that other bull**** get in the way of your studies...or life in general. Be smart.

They sound cliche, but I'm speaking from experience. Oh, forgot, last thing, always have fun no matter what. Keep a lighthearted mood and don't take anything too seriously.

Highschool is supposed to be about fun, just don't forget you're there to learn too.

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

These were my favorite parts. Because they are unique.

Yeah I'm a junior and completely agree with what you say.

The only thing I would say though is with the friends thing, it's always nice to find some friends you can always count on to be able to do something. I've found that if you don't have any good friends, just ones that you'll hang out with now and then, you will sometimes find yourself sitting at home. That's not the case with everyone, but it can happen. And while you're right about most people, it's not impossible to find a good group of friends that won't turn their backs on you. In my old town I had one, and we were never split apart by rumors or any of that. But, for the most part, what you say about friends and kids in general in high school is completely true.

I don't think I know a single person in my high school who is a good friend to anyone. Everyone uses each other. They give high-fives, waves, smiles, and pats on the backs, not to say "I like you" but to make themselves the most popular kid in school. When someone needs help, the person they go to tells everyone. People are invited to do things, not because they like them, but to make themselves look cool. I have often heard that friends in high school don't stay your friends.

Read The Prince , it has timeless values.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

you are so negative, mae.

if you're so unhappy with your life, why don't you do something to change it? I refuse to believe that your high school is completely devoid of any genuine people.

The Prince is a worthless book regarding high school. Go around being feared and let's see how far you get in the 21st century.

WRONG!

There isn't anything wrong with being popular. It's all about WHY you are popular. Being popular because you're cool with everyone is how you should be.

Which leads me to question you, do you even know what it's like to be popular?
