I was always scared to play rugby in high school. I was always an artsy kid. of course because I gave up competitive soccer for artsy music stuff I started gaining weight. after a bunch of scares involving deaths where family members were not in good enough physical health to recover from the simple surgeries that could have saved their lives, I decided to learn a lot. I was 5'10" and I was pushing 190 lbs. I have read loads of mens health magazines, gone through all sorts of ebooks, read all sorts of books, learned a lot about sports nutrition, read things from full body movements to acid-alkaline balance.
I got myself into better shape. I am now 6'0" (I grew a little this summer) and I lost a lot of fat over these two years (I went down to 174 lbs but a lot more of it is muscle now).
I went to my first rugby practice yesterday and was dizzy after getting tackled for the second time. what I realized is my training was making me healthier but I needed to push myself to a point where I was psychologically uncomfortable if I was going 1. get an athletic body, 2. succeed in such a psychologically challenging sport, and 3. be able to take on extreme mental and physical challenges in my life.
So now I'm going to take everything I know and apply it. I'm writing this because: I need to commit myself to you guys, I will probably need some support, and hopefully some people will take some information from the little tidbits I've learned along the way.
today is saturday and I start workouts on monday.
See you then
