This is just a rough guess, but let us assume that "team B"is in position around back of the house and "team A" is ready to go in front.
After verifying target is at location, team A is ordered to take out the front door with battering ram. By this time, team B has already secured the back rooms of the house by entering in through an open window.
A now secures lower level, whilst B proceeds upstairs to the bedroom.
Suddenly, A encounters resistance - it's the new boyfried, and he's unarmed! Several bursts of automatic gunfire ring out and a moment of chaos ensues.
Thankfully, none of your team are hurt and the threat has been neutralised.
B is now at the bedroom door which is slightly ajar. Wham! It's down - clean off the hinges.
On the floor *****!
Give us the god damn ring, mother ^%^**&!
Get me a ^**(% knife, ******!

If you live in California, you are legally entitled to your engagement ring if you decide not to marry. The ring is considered a "conditional gift" so if the conditionality fails, e.g. you or she decide not to marry, you are entitled to your ring. Even if you cheated. However, the court of public opinion is a completely different deal.
Hey Carpy... You have every right to the ring back, but to be honest she may want it not as a trophy but as something to legitimize your relationship, and then again she may want it as a way of hanging on to you, or to keep you hanging on. She knows you are on hard times right now, and probably thinks you would hock it.
I sold mine and bought beer for everybody in sight with the money.
My Xgf did this with some of my things left at her house, and even said so to my face. “Bargaining chip” is the way she phrased it.
I finally told her to toss it.
As for her weak moment, I don’t know what to tell you about that buddy, it seems she still has feelings for you, but women are funny like that, she may actually think this CNA chump is the best thing for her and YOUR daughter.

Don’t beat yourself up too bad for going AFC, as you put it, most guys would when caught off guard like that. Men tend to get more trusting as the years go by, thinking they have a loyal partner and it hurts like a bi#ch when you find out that’s not the case.
