NOTHING! as many people here are so thoughtfully explained...here's there proof in the pudding: a girl i know just gave her number to 2 different guys in the past couple days and she promptly explained that "i would never, ever date either one of them, but i gave them my number". she was making fun of the one dude b/c he was stuttering and sh*t when he was going for the # close...

that is messed up, but that's what happened, and i believe that is what happens more often than we like to imagine.

myself when approaching you like to feel the sense of both people (me and the b*tch) have a decent conversation going, there are plenty of eye contact and a bit of KINO going before you ask for her number,

initiative takes over when deciding if you think the two of you are compatable to take things further...

Girls hate rejecting guys directly...This is also why girls will make up endless excuses ("Um, I need to help my mom clean carpets") instead of flatly rejecting you for a date...Or why they tell guys "Let's just be friends" even if they have no interest in being friends.

The phone number is usually a waste of time until after you gone out with a woman and she gains a high IL. If her IL isn't high enough, her number isn't worth the paper it's written on.
