Hey guys, I was just thinking. We've all heard about the GF grill and how great it is for lowering the fat content of your meat/chicken/fish, but is this really a good thing?

There are healthy and unhealthy fats, and while it's certainly much more complex than this, in general unsaturated fats are better for you than saturated fats, and it's also important to keep them in the right balance.

Unsaturated fats melt much sooner than saturated.

Wouldn't the GF grill just drain all the healthy unsaturated fat, further messing up the balance. I mean, some meats contain Omega 3's and what not, and that stuff isn't even solid at room temperature, so it's probably about the first to drain on the grill.

Just seems to me like this thing's health benefits are over rated, but maybe I just don't like how dry it makes my burgers.

I use to have one. Don't get it, it's a pain in the ass to clean and it makes the meat dry and taste like paper.

Agree with monster, easy to cook on but it really dried out my food more than I like and I'm not convinced of the benefits.

Mine has been collecting dust for years now.

Never used one. I ususally almost boil my burgers in a pan, and when it's close to done, I dump the water and cook it a few more minutes in the pan, flipping it a couple more times. Tastes good to me. Keeps the juices, gets rid of a ton of that solidified-at-roomtemp fat, not dried out.

I just got one. I don't know how to keep healthy fats and get rid of unhealthy ones, but ^ that sounds like a good idea
