On a side note, I went to a standard Catholic all-boy's school, and thus my fellow students and I had structural impediments to meeting women at that age (which may be the sex-segregated Catholic school's whole purpose), and a surprising number of students turned out gay. One of my schoolmates that I have stayed in touch with over the years has speculated that the reason for this is that some men, when they have so much trouble picking up and keeping women, simply give up and take the "easy way out".

What do you think about this theory? Is homosexuality simply an extreme manifestation of AFC-ness?

I think all gays are just feminine.

AFC is too broad a term to fit within being feminine alone.

Some AFC traits definitely fall under being feminine, but not all.

First of all no one really knows what causes people to be "Gay."

Secondly, I know this is a Mans forum. It's a forum primarily for men. It's really a forum for a alpha males.

This is a forum primarily for men who want to be better men.

Actually scientists do know why people are gay - mainly hormonal imbalance, but then pyschological issues can often play a large role too.

I don't believe this is correct, and you'll need to cite some evidence before I buy it.

First off, equating homosexuality with a hormone imbalance is equating homosexuality with a physical abnormality. This would clearly fall into the category of being a pathology, and it would be easily treated with hormone therapy.

You specifically identified testosterone as a hormone that is lacking in homosexuals. If this were true, there would be no homosexual bodybuilders or athletes, and yet, they exist. There's a few at the gym I frequent.

From personal experience, I suffered from pretty much zero testosterone production when I went through radiation therapy. While my moods and behavior did indeed change, not once did I feel the urge to go make out with a guy.

In every physiology and psychology textbook I've ever read (and after over 250 undergrad hours, I've read quite a few) that addresses the topic, a combination of genetic predisposition and development environment is held as the root cause of homosexuality. Even this explanation oversimplifies as some people may be 99% genetics and 1% environment, while others may be 1% genetics and 99% environment, and any other combination in between.

In the end, while tracking down the cause may be fascinating, it is little more than an exercise in intellectual masturbation. Whatever the cause of homosexuality, these people exist and deserve to be treated with the respect and dignity that is due to any other human being.
