Gas price discussion

the price of gas will go down if we , as americans, stop purchasing the stuff and say we cant afford it.

however we all have to eat, so we go fill up again and go back to work.

many americans are buying small gas cans to horde all they can before it goes up more.

and since we keep buying it, they keep raising the price.

Because not everyone lives within walking or bicycling distance from where they need to go. There isn't any public transportation in my town and my job is 16 miles from my home. The grocery store is about 10 miles. Not everyone lives in cities, you know.

I think everyone should start buying ethanol (corn alcohol). It will power all vehicles that use unleaded gasoline and is alot cheaper than gasoline (I believe that is somewhere around $1.25 a gallon) There are a ton of other benefits to using this fuel (doesn't pollut enviroment ect.) Also if the consumption of this fuel increased, gasoline companies would have to lower their prices to compete.

It's not corner gas that's regulating prices! The sooner you relieze that, the more we can focus on the main companies that produce, control and distribute the products that corner gas needs to sell to us. In Canada for example, the price I have here is just above $1.25/Litre. Most of that cost (~90%), is taxes and overhead caused by the oil companies. Gas stations don't make a lot of money off the sale of gasoline/diesel (~2-5 cents/Litre).

So when a gas station brings the price down, it's affecting it's own little profit, not the taxes that are forced onto the consumer.

Even stores like safeway that can sell gas for 9 cents lower then normal (after all rebates), they cannot afford irregardless to sell much lower then that for the sake that the gas is a push to get consumers into the store.

As I said before, sucks to be us now ain't it?

What really pisses me off is that companies like Exxon are still making huge profits. They see that they can raise the prices of gas because people will just blame it on the Middle East and the government.

And, man, why haven't we taken over the Middle East yet? Nothing good comes from there. Now, I know there are good, innocent people there, so that's why we won't bomb it. But we at least need to take it over, if not to stop all those terrorists, but so we can get our f*cking economy back on track. I have a comment to make about taking over the middle east. I totally agree with you. I'm currently reading this book 48 Laws of POWER. Basically history and psycology. Well one of the laws is to completly obliterate your enemy or else he will destroy you. It gave examples in history and it's completely true. IF we go there and half heartedly take over and not DESTROY THEM. They will retaliate and become angrier and angrier. Like a snake, if you step on it and it's half dead, it will come back and bite you because you didn't kill it. This bite will probably kill you due to the venom and whatnot. Now I'm not saying kill all these people, unfortunately that's not possible due to all these DEMOCRATS in this world. THEY don't understand that its either us or them. Well anyway this book says that if you can't "kill" them then you have to keep them under control, by just like familyguyfan says, BAM! cap in the ass. And not giving them any chance of power.

Not around here they aren't - I saw 3 people with 50+ gallon drums they were filling up... gas at almost every station is sold out completely, and those that aren't have cars 40 deep waiting in line to pump fuel... it's crazy I tell you.

Na just playing guys. Anyways yea, the gas station only had 2 pumps available and the price is like 3.6soomthing. I just passed by New Jersey(supposed to be cheap gas-----PLEASE!!!:box: ) IT WAS FREEKING 3.53 WTF?

Now i know the gas is not going to run out for another 10 years. Democrats where complaining about going to war for oil. Well you don't hear them complaining any more. If the soldier's job is to go to war. Then whats wrong.

If you train for a soccer game, then do your job and play. It just makes me mad to see people who don't know anything, except that they hear one person complain about somthing stupid so they go and do the same!! How are these people going to say that the soldiers shouldn't go to war when:
-Where fighting terorrism.
-They were trained to.

It just seems that democrats just complain but they dont come up with solutions.

Fortunatly, in Europe there is an easier way to travel without a car. And those pegout, fiats,alfa romeo, citroen, all those well they don't drink gas like a HUMMER,FORD, GMC!!!

O really?! How about you go and do some reading/studying on why the middle east hates America. Go read some of it in the History books. I don't have time to talk to a dumb a$$, ignorant Democrat who wants to b*tch about everything. Here is a little about what's you'll find:

The Middle East are thought to take their lives as long as they bring down AMERICANS with them. They are taught that if they do this then they will go to heaven, or their equivalent of it. I can't remember the names of these leaders but there are many that teach this principle to them.

Ever since Middle Eastern babies are born they are taught to HATE AMERICA.

All this hatred starts from the beginning of Americas rise as a "superpower". Look up the "barbie doll" and the "sara doll". The core reason why AMERICA is hated so much is because of America's power in the world. Because America has so much influence in everything, American values were spreading across the world. (look up the dolls, you (insert profanity) democrat) There was a theory, the "domino theory" (another fact you should look up before you open up your mouth)(or maybe you like opening your mouth to put in a nice juicy ****) Anyway back on track. The domino theory is that if one country goes one way the ones next to them will do the same, hence "domino theory". If America started spreading American values then eventually they would reach the Middle East. American values were seen as corrupt, and everything opposite from their own values. This is why they hate Americans so much. Because we have the power to spread our values, which they hate and they know that if we spread them enough times it will corrupt their values and their way of life.
Conclusion: They HATE American values. They HATE America's power. They HATE America's influence in the world. They are thought to destroy and take out AMERICANS at any cost. They will not stop until AMERICA IS DESTROYED!

I agree, in Europe its not that BIG of a problem. You can practically WALK from city to city. Here in America where things are spread out, you can barely ride your bike and get to society. We need cars to transport. Maybe not in Chicago or New York, but what about the other 98 % of America. It's not all in the city. It is so much easier right now in Europe than here.

And you're confusing "Middle East people," a population that happens to live in a geographic area, with "extremist Muslims," an ideology with many followers. For instance, most Lebanese Christians aren't raised to hate America, nor are Israeli Jews, yet they are both populations that you can call "Middle East people."

I sold my car today for $7 to a person at my work so i don't have a car now so i don't how expensive it gets. I may get another car later but for now i am buying a bike since i mainly go only short trips anyway.
