I've come to learn that it is verey hard t gain weight. Especially for myself with a fast metabolism. Now I'm starting to overcome this by doing less cardio, lifting heavy, suplementing, and eating when I'm not sleeping. Now doing less cardio will mean you wll gain a little more fat but that's ok because when you get big enough you can shred that fat off. Lift heavy weights, less reps. Don't sacrafice your form though. This will build you some mass. If you can afford it, buy some weight gainers such as muscle milk. Don't forget about your whey protein as well as your multivitamins. If you feel the need to you can try a type of creatine or NO. Eat EAT EAT. Eash as much as possible, and keep it clean if you can. Steaks, chicken, salmon, any kind of food that is igh in protein will build you muscle and help towards gaining weight. In addition, you want to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night so you can recover from you session at the gym. Your muscle fibers that were torn need to heal. If you do all this properly, staying discipline with this routine, you should be able to gain some serios weight with patience. Good Luck

9.5/10 when someone isn't gaining, it's their diet that's at fault (providing they're not pissing about with dumbbell kickbacks and the like). You must have a fast metabolism, so you could ease up on the cardio, some (if you do any).

First, make sure you're getting 2g of protein per lb of target bodyweight.

Then make sure your PWO shake packs a good 50g of protein at least. (How many people on this board are content with one scoop of whey PWO I'd like to know..)

If you're doing this and not gaining weight, then add olive oil/flax oil to your pro/fat meals and your protein shakes (olive oil tastes better) - good fat + calories to help you grow.

If this doesn't help either, then add some carbs in. Liquid carbs are an option, personal recommendation would be maltodextrin shakes: malto in juice or sugarfree squash or whatever you like. I say liquid carbs because given you've got a fast metabolism and you'll be cramming down vast amounts of food (protein) anyway, you might not have room for bowl upon bowl of pasta and the like. Malto shakes slip down quickly and easily.

These would be my basic diet suggestions, there are more exotic methods of gaining muscular weight if and only if the above fail, so let me know how you get on.

For the record though, I'd like to see your routine as well.

(incidentally, what do you mean by 'hardcore' gains? if you're hoping to look like Arnie or the pros, then it takes a good 5-10 years of dedication. Set realistic goals, always.)

Eat six small meals a day. Drink about a gallon of water a day. Eat before you are hungry, drink before you are thirsty.

Some people say you have to break up your workouts into systems... but i perfer doing full body workouts. Whatever you choose, just make sure you go to the gym consistantly... 3-5 times a week.

Some people say that you will lose all of your mass if you workout the same muscle twice in a week... that might have more relevance with advanced bodybuilders, but for the average person trying to get bigger it doesnt mean chit.

thanks.

Thanks for the posts guys! What I ment by hardcore gains is, well gains that just happen a little faster than usual I guess. I know, I know patience...the first Jedi trick. The thing I get tired of tho, is people are always like oh you are so thin, then when I take off my shirt they are like..wow, you've got muscles! They don't really show through my clothes yet, and I have been working out a good few years. I am seeing gains but they are very very very slow. I am just looking for a way to speed up the process a little. I think though, my diet has been at fault. I agree that is the problem. So, if I eat, eat, eat...foods that are healthy and high in protein what is good estimation of weight gain per month? How much can a person usually put on in a month if they follow a strict routine of dieting and works? I am 156lbs, 5 10. Peace.

Give yourself 2g of protein per lb bodyweight and see if your body doesn't go into muscle accumulation overdrive ..

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Steve, there are no magic numbers. You could gain 2lbs in a month, you could gain 20lbs (perfectly possible) or you could gain none at all, it all depends on your dedication to the cause (and your food intake).

Don't think in terms of a month. Think in terms of three months, six months, a year. Set long-term goals, not short-term ones because you may well be disappointed and discouraged, when all you needed was another few weeks of consistency to get there.

Post me a sample of your diet and workout and I'll give you a more specific opinion.
