"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

I've never been a particularly seductive man. If anything, I was a diehard romantic, preferring to imagine my life as a rom-com instead of anything else. I still am a virgin, though now in my 20's. I am also fat, though not morbidly so. I respected women, cherished them, talked to them, was their shoulder to cry on. Sexuality took the backseat in every one of my "interests". I wanted to be first their confidante, their protector, and hoped from that they would sprout love for me. I fell for the biggest fallacy in human relations, that boyfriend must start with friend.

About a year ago, on a trip abroad, I met M. Early 20's, she wasn't a particular looker, though excellent conversationalist and very warm. At that time, I was off my element, more involved with the fancy place i was in so I didn't actively pursue her. Another guy, made his move. I don't know what happened between them, it still pains me to think what could have transpired. Nonetheless, I couldn't stand it. I didn't have any particular feeling for her then, but when I saw her being pursued by another, I couldn't stand it. I decided to enter her world. I started off as the smartest in the lot, sensing her affinity towards philosophy and such, an interest I shared. We talked for hours all alone, and as i listened intently, I could feel she did develop some level of interest. I gave her a nickname, something only I called her with. At first she was curious, asking why the nickname. My response: "just". Again, a flare up of interest. By the end of the week, it was time to go, right before I got on my taxi out of the hotel, I gave her a hug. I was really only expecting a casual hug. She held on to me for a full 10 seconds. Pupils widely dilated, even at that afternoon hour, she gazed at me with puppy eyes. I now realize that was possible THE best moment for a kiss, but me being a silly afc, didn't. I did realize that everything I had done so far, being smart, not showing too much interest, maintaining an air of mystery had worked wonders.

Her hometown is quite a distance from me, so we started texting. For a year after that, we would text almost daily, most being late night chats. I talked to her about random stuff, sometimes with flirting thrown in, which would be responded to with extreme enthusiasm. I knew I was on the right path. But still, I had no intention of physically using her. I slowly put her on a pedestal, thought the world of her. She did too, atleast as far as I could make out of her texts. I never called her. I've been too shy of calling since forever, preferring to text as I can ensure I don't sound dumb that way. She told me she was coming to my town at the end of the year. She was off abroad on a yearlong assignment, and would be in my town for a few days. I decided to make it count. I asked her out. She agreed.

I was ecstatic. This was the first time I had ever asked a girl out. And she had agreed. With a 1:1 serve to hit ratio, I began to really feel good about myself, about this. Too good perhaps. So much that now I started worrying over it. What would I do? What would please her? What would annoy her? How can I come off as my best. I started texting her more often, and slowly, her interest levels depreciated. I noticed, but that only made me kick my legs out more in panic. Then for a full two weeks, I went cold turkey on her. She was on my mind the entire time, but I could not stand for being ignored. So I went cold turkey. I was worried that in this time she will be banging some other guys. I could feel my heart explode everytime I thought about it, my thoughts running to the other guy who hit on her when i first met her. But I held my ground. Sure enough, she broke the silence, her text showed considerable worry.

We resumed normal contact thereafter, after all, we both liked each other a lot. I realize now the problem was that I thought she had many options, where I had none. I had invested too much in her to back out. I have a propensity to not back out on things anyway, something between determination and egotism. Anyways, time came and she came to my town. We were supposed to have dinner together, that's as far as we had decided. I however, met up early, and we spent the whole day exploring the old town, I ran up quite a bill over her. But I figured that was ok. Money has never been a problem for me, thanks to working hard through my teens n such. Though it came at a price. The price of being an absolute novice to relationships. We bumped into each other many times, she initiated kino many times, but I was too fazed to see any of this. We ended the night by dropping her off at her place, she hugged me again far longer than normal. As I walked away, I looked back to look at her. She didn't. I knew the date was a fail. I panicked.

Next day, she texts me to tell me that she had fun. I respond in like. We don't talk much after that. The day after, I finally blew my fuse and asked her that if she knew that I liked her. She said she had an idea, but we can only be friends. I asked why. She says she's gotta sort her **** out and doesn't know what she wants. I try to defend, saying we can handle things. She said she's end up breaking my heart, for she cannot guarantee there won't be anyone else.

That hit me like a thousand tonnes at the once. This girls that I near worshipped, just told me that she would inevitably end up cheating on me. That she wanted to f*ck other guys. I couldn't breathe. Everything came crashing down in flames, everything I had worked for. I tried to save face. Told her it was probably for the best, and didn't talk after that. That night, i didn't sleep. For two days after that, I couldn't eat. I would just sit in my room, look at her text, her photo and weep silently, lamenting my fate. She was to leave the next day. I wished her the best. In my mind, she was no longer worthy of my attention. But my heart won't quit.

It's now three days since she left. She said that she'll text me her number from there. I am still in shock. Any tiny thing that happens makes me think of her, what she said to me, what she is about to do. I cannot keep tears in. I suppose in that one instance, my innocence was taken away from me. The world I now see, is an ugly one. But I learn.

I realized there were two reasons I crashed and burned. First, there was nothing physical. I shied away from physical contact. Two, I had an unrealistic expectation from love n relationships. It doesn't work like movies. If anything, I'm gonna stop watching these movies and soaps that encourage these misleading ideas.

I now have a year to fix these. I am headed to a different town to study, and I will use this time to turn myself around. I will get ripped, date often, and f*ck girls even more. Moralities are out of the window. This is war. I will not accept defeat. I will take her back.

Out of the ashes of an afc, a dj will arise.

Any advice/pointers welcome.

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

First off pal, i know this situation might seem unique to you, but to hell with all the "unique" circumstances. Its basic lack of attraction/and your oneitis.

I am also fat, though not morbidly so.

Unacceptable. Join a gym and get ripped now. Use anger as your fire.

She held on to me for a full 10 seconds. Pupils widely dilated, even at that afternoon hour, she gazed at me with puppy eyes. I now realize that was possible THE best moment for a kiss, but me being a silly afc, didn't.

Ahh this moment. I remember when i first had success women, and eventually would keep getting to this point and did exactly what you did because of the fear or rejection/lack of balls to execute. So i get the kiss in the middle of the date. Takes away this awkward moment and usually leads to a makeout instead.

For a year after that, we would text almost daily, most being late night chats.

A year without sexual escalation = LJBF. Daily texts and chats sealed your fate. Dont ever do this again. I dont even daily text girls im dating/gf.

Then for a full two weeks, I went cold turkey on her. She was on my mind the entire time, but I could not stand for being ignored. So I went cold turkey.

First evidence of that suffocating alpha male inside of you, just trying to get out. Imagine the effect of no contact if you had preceeding attraction. You dont have to go NC for 2 weeks, but learn to how to "not text a girl constantly" like you did earlier. Give the girl time to miss you. Attraction + aloof = Girl chasing/qualifying to you.

Total AFC move. Never tell a girl you like her. Escalate and show her you do. Dont wait a year either pal. Right from the get go.

That hit me like a thousand tonnes at the once. This girls that I near worshipped, just told me that she would inevitably end up cheating on me. That she wanted to f*ck other guys. Id say every guy has gone through this atleast one. Not even joking, im talking full on crying because of all the frustration. Happened to me 3 years ago, and i vowed that day to NEVER LET MYSELF FEEL LIKE THIS AGAIN. And thats what happened. What followed in the last 3 years is my most successful, not just in women but in life....The best success comes from the deepest failure. You are about to level up my friend. Make sure it happens.

Biggest tips: Dont obsess over game/women. Maybe check the forums twice a day max, because you should be doing stuff that will help in your quest for world domination. Make a list of goals and seek everyday to get close to conquering them. You need to be the priority in your own life, and women should not be the only source of your happiness. Good luck.

Kinda sounds like me after my ex broke up with me. 3 year LTR went from:
"Can't wait to see you next week. I got a little surprise waiting for you. It involves you,me,very hot sex ,and repeat repeat repeat" to "You know when you told me to get my sh!t together and think things through ? well...I did and... I decided that it would be better for both of us to end it here. Long distance just isn't right at this age..."

Actual quotes. Word for word. Messages I got only 2 days apart. Just like that.

I was completely mind-fvcked for 1 week straight. I slept just fine but barely could eat , had absolutely 0 motivation to work or do anything. Felt great while out with friends , but leave me alone for 1 minute and you'll find my curled up in a ball on the floor rolling around in tears. Slight exaggeration , but there you have it.

Here I am 3 months later. Joined the gym and already seeing massive progress , abs are showing, college work is going decently and I've also discovered this forum and already working on cold approaching.

This brake-up is arguably the best thing that ever happened to me. The idea of pure innocent love died with my relationship. Even though I could swear I had it to the very last moment. Regardless,it's dead now.

I never could really tell which is worse. I mean ,I had my 'perfect' relationship and it lasted for 3 years. No signs of an ending. And one day , outta the fvcking blue , boom. Nothing left. Just like that.
You on the other hand never experienced it with her beyond the limitation of your own imagination.
I don't know which is worse. Craving something you had and now is suddenly gone or craving something you desperately want but can't have.
Aparently though , the impact it has on you is quite similar.

Either way , OP , use this experience as motivation to enhance your life. Don't stop for anything.

Good luck and stay dedicated.

Thanks guys. I can see I'm not the only one on this boat.

TheException: I am working on improving myself, both physically and gamewise. My concern is, what do I do with her? How do I talk to her? I'm gonna go NC for a while, wait for her to initiate conversations, and keep it short. But what do I say if she asks about that incidence? I know for a fact that I cannot be a friend as long as I harbor ulterior motives, apart from the fact that it's dismal to even think of her with another guy. That's what I really need to work on. Accepting that fact and not caring about it.

Zion: I feel sorry for you bro. You invested way more time & effort in your girl than I did, to the point where you were feeling secure. Cold on her part to ditch you like that. Still, I'm interested in what you did after the breakup with her? Did you talk at all?

Thanks still.

You dont talk to her. Period. If she texts you, dont respond. This girl is toxic for you and will bring you down because of how long youve invested into the relationship. I know my advice might sound impossible to you...but that girl i cried over in my original response...shes barely even in my life and the fact i cried over her is funny to me now. Time cures all, and people who we are attached to now(in an unhealthy way) always end up having little no significance in our lives. Work on yourself bro. Forget her and get after life.

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.

Nah man it wasn't cold per se. I always told her to think things through and establish her priorities as opposed to begging or whatever when she used to say "Long distance is sooo hard blabla".
Theoretically it was a 'mutual' brake-up. Whatever, point is , no hate or major drama.

I just realistically never expected her to actually make that choice , for some reason and that's why I was so crushed.

Anyway, I went NC after that for about 70 days. She contacted me a few times during that period and we had very short casual conversations. She was basically fishing for both attention and affection from me,but I didn't give her any. I couldn't completely ignore her since it would've been uncalled for. It would however had been more productive in regards to my healing , but there you have it.

After that she'd been insisting to meet up with me. I finally agreed , met up with her about 1-2 weeks ago(this is after 70 days of NC and then some) for a coffee for about 1 hour and treated her like any other female friend.

Eventually she admitted she still had strong feelings for me even tho she has(or had) a rebound.I'm not quite sure since I dismissed the subject quickly.

Whatever , all in all it's just a mind-fvck.I'm not better from seeing her and I'm not worse. Thing is,from the moment we broke up I never , for one second ,even contemplated getting back together with her. I told her from the very start that this is a one-shot deal. There will be no breaks , no so called temporary brake-ups , no facebook "it's complicated" drama and no other **** like that. Once it's over , it's over and that's that. This allowed me to detach myself emotionally when it happened.

I still care for her , but all I am willing to be for her now is just a big brother that lives miles away and she rarely ever talks to. If anything really serious should go down , she could theoretically count on me. But that's just about it.

You on the other hand , in the back of your mind still hope to be with her. Kill that hope , as it only helps torment you and slow down your progress.

A beautiful world is waiting for you out there full of amazing people just waiting to meet you.

I know it feels close to impossible to let go of her right now , but trust me , the sooner you do , the sooner you can begin your life.

I had to say goodbye to Miss January
She had a hold of my mind for so long and
I learned a lesson in life from Miss January
The weight left in my heart is less heavy
When the first light shine, the first light shines in June
