"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

So a few weeks ago, I was out celebrating my birthday with some close friends, we joined up with girl A, a girl I know from a long time ago and a couple of new girls she was with.

I'd already had the lecture from girl A about not bedding any of her friends, but I thought I'd have a bit of fun and just go crazy with what you guys probably call "****y and funny" - my natural style is to rip into chicks pretty hard and dark, but smile and play it off afterwards. This has had a range of results, from getting me laid to reducing a girl to tears (she was overly sensitive and PMSing, and I felt pretty bad about it afterwards. I'm not a bastard.)

Anyway, one of her friends, roughly HB7, who we'll call girl B seemed pretty offended by my attitude and actually ended up screwing one of my friends (who badly needed to get laid, so that was a result). They've been screwing ever since, and sometimes she comes over and chills out at our flat. She now knows I'm not such a hardass the whole time, only to strange girls for kicks.

Then yesterday, I came into the room and they were talking about me:

Me: Did I hear my name? Are you ladies gossiping again?
Girl B: Yeah, I was just saying how funny it is that on your birthday, I totally thought you hated me, otherwise I probably would have ended up in your bed.
My friend: ...

That exchange just blew my mind. She said that in front of my friend who she's sleeping with! They're only casual, but that still strikes me as unbelievably disrespectful. Maybe I'm too old-fashioned?

Just another insight into the sort of crazy we're up against!

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Modern women will say or do anything to satisfy their ego. How they feel from one moment to the next is really all they care about.

So this is no surprise to me. Since the majority of men NEVER put women in their place.. what reason do they have to fear offending a man? What is he going to do about it? PROBABLY NOTHING.

Especially if she is giving him p*ssy.

Funny you should say that about men not putting women in their place. Next line of that conversation?

Me: You really wouldn't have ended up in my bed. I wasn't THAT drunk.

I know what you mean though... They get away with murder most of the time!

Crazy, but unsurprising.

She can't wrap her head around the idea that you aren't showering her with attention like every other dude (your friend for example) and wanted to gauge your reaction. It was a **** test and it appears you passed yet again.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.
