"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Ok i'm writing this drunk, so hopefully there aren't too many typos. ANyways so I was at the club, very cheap drinks so I had a few. I am new to the clubbing scene. So this pretty hot girl comes up to me and says "are you from such and such school?" I say "no..." and carry on a conversation realizing it's an opportunity. So anyways, I end up talking to her and her friends...and I realize it's hard keeping up a conversation with so many girls. Had to single them out. The good thing tho is that they are all pretty hot so I'm not too picky. So anyways I talk to them for alittle bit and then move on. I see them again and my friend starts to talk to the one girl that talked to me to begin with, but the entire time she is pretty much looking at me...even though I wasn't even talking. Pretty good right? So they're in their group talking, these guys are trying to hit on them but unsucessful. So anyways, my friend is pushing me to go up to them and ask them to dance. After debating whether to do it or not, I finally get the balls to walk with my friend and then walk up and ask who wants to dance. So I go up there...the original girl who talked to me leans her ear in like she wants to hear what I say...and the words just couldn't come out of my mouth. I was sitting there for like 3-4 seconds before I finally got out "you wanna dance?" and then she's like "Ohhh! you hesitated." then she did some wierd pinky swear thing and said she'd be back for me later on. Of course she never did. Man did I blow it by hesitating? The words seriously wouldn't come out of my mouth I feel like an idiot. She was pretty cute too and kept looking at me. Ah well...next time I guess.

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti
He’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
To approach, but he keeps on forgettin
What he read here, every girl smells his fear
He opens his mouth, but the words won’t come out
He’s chokin, how everybody’s jokin now
The clock’s run out, time’s up over, Pal!
Snap back to reality, oh there goes gravity
Oh, there goes 69, he choked
He’s so mad, but he won’t give up that
Is he? no
He won’t have it , he knows his whole back city’s ropes
It don’t matter, he’s dope
He knows that, but he choked
He’s so stacked that he knows
When he goes back to his mobile home, that’s when it’s
Back to the net again yo
This whole PUA sh*t
He better go capture this moment and hope it don’t pass him

weird al yankovich here i come :)

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.
