Guns have always been prevalent in America. Only in the past few decades have high murder rates and mass shootings become an issue.

The AR-15 has been around, since the early 60's. The AK-47, since the late 40's.

You are talking out of your a$$ and have zero credibility in discussing such matters. The AK was designed for Soviet military use, with reliability under extreme conditions in mind. Second, if you have actually ever fired an AK or AKM variant, you would know that the more violent recoil and percussion of the 7.62x39mm round isn't exactly the most kid/woman friendly round, especially though the AK platform, compared to smaller cartridges, such as the .223 or NATO equivalent, that is most common shot through the AR. Can a child learn to handle an AK? Yes, and they have and do, but if I were in the business of arming children, the AK would be the last platform I would suggest, other than the 7.62 round is highly available around the globe and this fact here is the very reason the AK is so obtainable. They are very cheap to produce and highly reliable, not because they are easier to fire by children.

About the AK47, it's the most reliable gun of the days... it was designed to work all the time, by anyone, including kids (in Russia kids under 14 were conscripted in the army especially during WW2, the Germans did the same). I live in Canada, in the city of Montreal, at the inner core of the city... don't need a car nor public transport. Never had to deal with weapons under than getting my license. I got into a few fights which got only at punch... I know people who were stabbed and shoot at gunpoint. Also, I've seen guns and not just the sport one.
