"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

Hey guys, first-timer here. I just read "The Game" by Neil Strauss and was browsing the web on him when I stumbled here; it looked interesting enough to register and post. I wouldn't consider myself a pick-up artist but I do well enough, but let's face it, we can all improve. I've been in a small slump lately; my best buddies all lived in an apartment down the street, but their lease expired and they all moved away for various reasons. Thus, our Friday/Saturday night barhopping crew was disbanded.

In the last month I've been out a couple times when various other friends call, but that's less than I like to get out. They are married/in serious relationships so only rarely get out. Thus, I'm creating my own kind of boot-camp, I guess you'd say. I have always fit in at the bar but always went out with a group of buddies. Since that option is few and far in between now, it's time I hit them solo. It's definitely outside of my comfort zone, but if I can learn to handle that, then I'll be golden any day of the week.

Anyway, today's options are actually twofold: one, I can go to my friend's band at a bar. His band is actually pretty big and he's co-headlining with an 80's pop star. I didn't even invite any of my other buddies because it's a $25 ticket, but I was hanging out with the guys last weekend and met a couple girls (old high school friends of theirs) who said they'd be there. I think flying solo at a concert is a little easier than the bar, because everyone's there for the music, and you have an icebreaker/common interest spoon fed.

My other option, I just got a call from a co-worker who I sometimes go out with (we're both on vacation right now), she said she was coming to my part of town with a girlfriend (that I'm also friends with) to drink. She's a little older, she's in her mid/late 30's but she's HOT (at least a 9.5 or 10) and no one ever guesses she's older than 25. She's the epitome of a gold-digger and I'm kind of her boss (I'm her trainer and charge of the department, but I'm not technically the direct-report), so I'm not interested, but she's GREAT for attracting other women, and in fact, she encourages using her in that fashion. The only downside is that we bicker because she wants her drinks comped, and if there is no guy hitting on her, I'm her target. Also, if we go anywhere that involves a cab/cover charge, she's only going if I'm paying for her--which is never.

Anyway, comments are welcomed and appreciated. Which option sounds better?

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Hey, just thought I'd follow up and possibly get some feedback from ya guys. I ended up going to the concert solo last night, and it was amazing! The girl I met last week was selling merch for the band, and there was another merch girl from another band I was talking to for a bit as well. I hung out with the band and other randoms at the bar next door after the show, it was good times.

I randomly approached a group of girls near the beginning of the night that happened to be co-workers (vocal instructors with common students) with my buddy in the band, so hit it off well with them and was hanging out for a bit. None of them were necessarily a target so I moved on.

Time was a constraint at the concert because it's tough to talk during songs, plus it's kind of taboo anyway. However, I did talk to a hottie during a song for about five minutes, we both started laughing when the lead singer whipped out a kazoo, it had a funny sound. She seemed interested and very willing to talk, but it was kind of weird talking during the show, so made up some excuse that I was in someone's way and moved to a different part of the audience. I meant to get back to her, but never did...the place cleared out right as the last act played their last song.

My co-worker called at about 10:00pm, said she was at a bar downtown, and it sounded like she was with a guy she didn't want to hang out with. Her girlfriend ditched her so she went to the bar solo near her place. I said I'd call her when we left there, but it was late when the show ended and I knew she wouldn't want to come all the way out here by herself at that time of the night.

So in the end of the night I didn't close any numbers, but it was a hell of a time anyway and I met a lot of cool people. Oh yeah, and I got drunk. There wasn't really any awkward moments. I think the only thing I did badly was not get random girl's number before the end of the night, she was definitely my type.

Edit: Forgot to mention, hilarious moment of the night. I gave a cigarette to one of the guys in the band, who was pretty drunk. I gave him a pack of matches to light it with, then after he lit it he gave me the burned out match back. I was like...thanks.
