Hi guys,

I've been working on my tonality and communication skills and whatnot recently. Really just going all out and trying to improve as much as I can.

Here's a quick video of me doing a Henry Rollins bit (I'm a huge fan) just for fun. Keep in mind english isn't my first language.

I'm just really curious what your first impression would be? And if you have any suggestions I'm very open to input. I posted in an earlier thread that I sometimes tend to come across as arrogant... do you guys see any of that in here? I'm really blind to how I'm perceived sometimes.

Thanks guys.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

As far as tonality, body language, lips moving, you got all that in tune. It's perfect for me.

But, quarter way through the video I began to fvcking hate your fag a55. It is noticeable that you making things up, and I found you very not believable, and all your tonality, body language, and lips moving just exaggerated that impression of you.

Do something else, turn up the lights in the room so we can see smoother video,.

Eh.. thanks man. lol

The story I was telling was simply a word-for-word copy of a bit Henry Rollins did. I absolutely did not invent it nor was I improvising. I only used it so I'd have "something" to say for that duration. You can probably tell I got bored about halfway through.

I'll do a better one of my own story soon.

Any more comments would be appreciated. Are you being serious that you started "hating" me half way through? I can't stuff on the net seriously but - I'd like to know. :)

I wasn't familiar with the person you are referring to either (Rollins). I think that's the problem. If you had used something people are more familiar with they would have "gotten" that you were basically giving a prepared speech of someone else's material. It's also just too long and the story itself just isn't good...it drags too much and people listening just lose interest and get bored with it.

Your tone and speaking is fine, though...presuming you make good eye contact when you are speaking to a person instead of a camera.

Okay well... thanks guys.

It's kinda what I thought.

I'm really nowhere near a high energy kinda guy.. and as much as I've tried I can't force that kind of character out of myself. I really envy those people who are born hyperactive, as weird as it sounds.

I'm going to try and be congruent with the way I am and just speak with more conviction I guess.

OK.

Here's another one I just made.

I tried to jump to the other end of the spectrum here.

This is most intense and loud I can possibly get. RIght now my voice hurts from yelling so hard and filming this was something that was really outside my comfort zone.

Yes, I'll come across as a psychopath but that's fine. Again, keep in mind, I'm just repeating a spoken word piece (notice the headphones).

Let me know what you think.

PS: The dog goin nutz at the end = visitors at teh door. lol

edit: wow. I didnt realise how retarded I look at the begining. I'm just trying to pump myself up.

I saw it kid - it is long-winded and has no point - have a purpose when you do something like this or it seems as if you just want people to listen to you talk - thus the arrogant perception or reality!
