You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Yea, I hear you. In all honesty, I think you are the only good judge of that situation. sometimes it is the necessary evil, and that is okay, for now. Never good long term, if you are your own man, IMO
Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Well sure. That was going to be an observation from the examples you gave. Excessive drinking is a sure sign of something not being quite right.
Does seem like she's been trying to control you at times. If there's one thing I cant stand it's passive aggressive control plays like this. It's a sign of weakness if it's too often and just becomes awkward in the end.
All I'd say is to learn not to react to it. If someone tests my patience like this these days, I just ignore them and slowly back away from them. We don't want to get reputation as needy or reactive ourselves.
