earlier today I had to listen to a guy basically crying because he had to pay $500 to get his car fixed, and could not afford it becuase he is living paycheck to paycheck and that's about how much he gets paid every 2 weeks after taxes.
yet has money to drive to del mar and gamble (and lose lol) and drink while he's there.
Alot of people live well beyond their means. I have no sympathy for the guy whatsoever.
While I'm a huge fan of horse racing, I would never tell someone to wager money they can't afford to lose.t his guy could not afford to drive there and back (about a 2 hour ride) let alone gamble.
You have to live with the decisions you make, relationship wise, financially. Every one here should have some type of emergency account. it is unacceptable to not have 500-1000-1500 dollars somewhere, anywhere.
My mom will cry about how broke she is all the time, but there is a difference between being broke and not having any money. If my mom's car broke down tomorrow i assure you, she would not have a problem buying another one. She would not have to call anyone to ask for rides or bum money off anyone. she will just crack open the piggy bank so to speak and either get it fixed or put a DP on a new one.
My father is the exact opposite. He's the type that wants you to see how much money he has (becuase they are both my parents, i know how much they each make , my mom makes about twice what my dad does, yet lives on much less). To put it in perspective my dad has paid off his house and is always still broke. has 2 cars.. just for him lol. A jeep cherokee and a 09 tahoe. that doesn't include's his wife's camary (She makes more than he does too, she's a RN). goes out to eat damn near everyday, i can count the time on one hand i have ever seen my dad cook anything in my life. if you go over his house, you might as well stop and get something to eat on the way, dont' have real food in the house they have snack ****. no meat and **** like that. they have a computer in every room in their house, two living rooms fully furnished, travels at least once a month (he flys free so it's just hotels and living expenses) etc, and while he makes decent money, I know for a fact he has no type of nest egg. he's too busy keeping up appearances.
Guy car that broke down is an 06. now, why you have a car payment on a car and you only clear about 1200 a month is another question not for this thread, but okay, say you put 10% back of everything you make, this would not be a problem in the least bit.
Get your financial house in order. learn how to save money, learn how to live within your means. living within your means doesn't mean being broke or living like you are broke it simply means don't' buy **** you can't afford. the second you have to start looking at spending savings for something you don't' need it.
This deals with DJism as well. No woman worth a damn, is going to want a broke mother****er who can't balance a checkbook, who doesn't' have some type of nest egg or is living paycheck to paycheck regardless of how much money he makes.
