Financial and family crisis

Hello gentlemen, I hope it has been a awesome day so far for you.

This post is gonna be a long one, at the same time it is a outburst and a request for help.

I'm going straightly to the point - I'm ****ed. I'm a 20 years old man, currently living in a rented apartment with my mother and my older brother. I'd like to give you some background first so you can understand my problem a bit more. My father died when I was 16, and even though my brother is 8 years older than me, he's just a boy. He doesn't act like a man, and is constantly throwing the blame on other people for his failures (especially my mother). Ever since I was 16, I've been paying pretty much all the taxes of my house, guaranteeing the living of my family. My mother is a retired government employee, and when I got my first job (serving the Army as soldier) I promised her she would never have to pay any taxes again. She gets a minimum wage every month, that she spends to pay her past debts (it has to do with poor choices to guarantee me and my brother the best life that she, apparently, couldn't really get) and pay for part of her medications (she has a special kind of hanseniasis that attacks the nerves, but gladly most of her medication and treatment are given by the government with no additional costs). My brother is a dreamer, a little boy, he never had any responsibilities in his life, has always lived under my parent's roof and is constantly throwing his bull**** of his career failure on my parents (apparently "they didn't support him enough"). He's constantly getting new jobs and then doing nothing for months. Now that you already know what my living is like, let's keep it on.

While I was working and in the Army, I saved some good money that can probably last until September of 2021. This time limit is coming and I got a hard time figuring out what to do to guarantee my family's safety and living. The expenses are getting higher and higher, and I honestly don't know what kind of thing I could possibly do to keep the standard of living my family have right now. For the long term, I'm studying to pass for Police and Army tests, aspiring to become a career Army Officer or Police Officer, but these things takes time, years of studies in the Academy before I can finally graduate and get a pretty good salary. What can I do now? I got some money saved that I can use for more investments (I already got some, but they're not enough), or anything else it might be necessary. My family is my responsibility now, I can't let them down.

It is simple to figure out how to make a steady income as a wage earner.

You must study your local job market. That's the answer.
You find out what's in demand and you be the one to supply that demand in the job you go after.



You have internet access so you must google your local job or employment centre.
Start with the words "jobs" "your nearest bigger town or city"

Then, when you find a website, usually run by a government agency, you must start in the first category and systematically read every single job ad. Then go onto all the categories.
Every one.
Have some paper and a pen ready and write down the job that appears more than a few times.

For example: You see machinist/tool & die maker appear 9 times and you haven't finished reading all the ads yet.Write down this job title, even if you're not sure what it is.

Another example: You see data analyst appear 21 times....write it down.

Any repeating job, write down the title.

This will be tiring. Remember to take regular breaks.

When you've gone through the first reading of all the categories and all the job ads. Do it again.

This time, you're focusing on the wages and any benefits they might mention. This is from reading every single job ad again. Write down all the good ones.

Next.

You're going to go through this website a third time, every single ad and you're going to look at what are the requirements that match up with the skills and talents you already have. You're rereading every single job ad again. Write them down on a third piece of paper.

This may take more than one day.



Compare your three pieces of paper.

What jobs are in demand is your first piece of paper.

What amount of money you can get is the second piece of paper.

And what you are currently qualified for to start working immediately in, is your third piece of paper.

What you are doing with this process is learning your local job market and how you can fit in.

In Canada, there's something called a N.O.C.
If you don't know what your country uses, just google the Canadian N.O.C.

N.O.C. stands for National Occupational Code.

So if you wanted to discover what a machinist/tool & die maker does for example, google the words "N.O.C.", "Canada", and "machinist/tool & die maker"

What you are doing now is researching what this job duties' are.

The secret is learning your job market. You want to earn money from something that is in demand.

It sounds like your brother is taking advantage of both you and your mother. It is noble that you support your mom, but in regard to your brother, it's naive.
