"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

My homecoming was like amonth ago, and it all around-sucked. I think thats the natural vibe given off by homecomigns. they're supposed ot go amazingly..but they jsut get ****ed up every chance possible.

I got asked to my best-friends school homecoming. he introduces me to his gfs friends[and I have in turn hooked up with 4 of them haha] and i game em. its fun.
Well this girl i met 2.5 monthes ago, she ahd a bf. since then they broke up, she aske dme to their homecoming a month ago[asked over myspace, i chilled with her 2 times total before homecoming came.]

We do dinner, I was kinda quiet cause I wasn't feeling the group at my table. she was busy talking to her dateless-bestfriend.
After dinner we drive back to thsi girls house to do some ****. in turn, my BMW 740i's engine gets ****ed up, so now we need rides everywhere.
At homecoming, first thing she does is leave my side and go talk to people I don't know. Thats cool. A buncha my female-friends from my school were there, so i went n talked to them.
I went to dance in our group, and got grabbed by another girl to dance..so i did for like a min, got off n grabbed my dates hand and started dancing.
After a song or two, she leaves again.
great date, eh. I got so pissed at this girl, i told so many people i was gonna just walk up to her and be like "you were the worst homecoming date ever, and i hope u get raped tonight."
She tried to introduce me to her frined, btu i was busy dancing with one of the girls in our group...so i kept dancing and jsut said hi.
When i saw her dancing with some other guy, she looked at me n smiled. i jsut mouth "i' don't care :)" and danced with my boys gf lol.
later on when i grab her to dance with ehr, she goes "why don't u just go dance with brittany?" i just reply "hey, you're the one whose been walking around all night." Shes really shy, i was playing on that abit n tryign to make ehr jealous some. it worked.
so we danced. n she shook her ass like a pro. i thought it was all good again.
We leave, go back to this kids house, and end up on opposite sides of a coach.
When we leave, she talks about sneaking out. then she calls some 20 year old mike guy. she asks him to come pick her n her friend up to go to a party. I was jsut think "wtf, telling me you'll come out and then trying to get other plans? **** that."
i didn't even kiss her goodnight.

Then after going to my other frineds hosue and chilling, i look on my mysapce. she sent em a message that is sumemd up shortly in "I'm sorry i was the worst date ever. Let me make it up to you next time when we chill alone."

wtf...this girl never ever really calls me. shes apparently too shy. but when i've been alone with her, shes cool as ****, funny...and damn shes hot.
so we'll see where things go. but right now...i'm leaning towards jsut using her.

what should i respond to her myspace message?
and any comments on my night?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
