Rap does suck . . .
Can you provide a rational argument for the claim that rap sucks. If rap sucks, then what form of music doesn't "suck"? I'm just curious.

I find that a statement as blatant as "rap sucks" appears to be based on highly personal sensibilities and individualized art tastes. Of course I might think a particular rap music sucks, but I wouldn't go as far to say that the whole genre sucks. If rap sucks, then it sucks for you. I like jazz, soul, hip hop, R&B, some rock, some pop. On the other hand, I don't fancy heavy metal and wouldn't claim heavy metal sucks--I just don't like it in general.

And the logical connection between rap music and feminization of America is entirely lost on me.

I'll be wearing my special "Fourth of July" American flag speedos in Florida. Are they going to outlaw them too?

Scotsmen wear dresses as do Polynesians including Fijians and Hawaiians. What you wear doesn't make you less of a man, but being afraid to wear something does.

They tell em abstain from sex, say no to drugs. As for rock 'n' roll, they sold that for television commercials a long time ago so they can buy pasta machines and StairMasters and soybean futures. You know something? They're cold, bloodless people. It's in their slogans, it's in their rhetoric: "No pain, no gain," "Just do it," "Life is short, play hard," "sh!t happens, deal with it," "Get a life." These people went from "Do your own thing" to "Just say no!" They went from "Love is all you need" to "Whoever winds up with the most toys, wins", and they went from cocaine to Rogaine."”
Carlin was booted out of the military for being a slacker. A guy who couldn't even serve his country with any personal application to the duty that he signed up and was paid to perform.
Eventually he learned to makes a living by insulting traditions, rituals and western culture in ways that appealed to the smug left.
Quite a winner.

I'm Libertarian.
I'm independent. I think the Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same bad coin.

Do our Australian friends even have Republicans? And if so, I doubt that they're the same as the US version.

Yikes! I knew I'd take some hits on this one!

First let me say, if you wanna listen to rap music, that's fine. It's just not music to me. You know, a melody, a tune, pleasant to listen to. It's a personal preference.

Now, let's look at the other side of the coin. I also see chicks who wear cargo pants, hiking boots and other "masculine" apparel. Seems to me that sometime in the future, human beings will eventually become asexual.

Then there will be no need for SS.

Ouch Tig!

Don't tell me what my "type" is. You don't know. But you seem to be an inquisitive little creature so I'll tell you.

Yes, I'm a boomer. One who served in the Army and put himself through college. One who has, and still does have a great career. And no, I don't have alot of toys. I have saved money I have earned. Money that has not been given to me through some entitlement program that you younger guys think is owed to you just by your very existence. I could stop working right now if I wanted to and not rely on taxpayers or anyone else.

Am I bloodless? Not at all. I raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Make A Wish Foundation. WTF do you do to contribute to your fellow man? Impress me young DJ.

George Carlin? The very words you quoted describe that guy to a T. He's a fvckin loser who has made tons of money making fun of folks who are just like himself.

Nothing was ever given to me. I was never doped up for twenty years and I never had a free ride. I am a self made man and proud of it.

I'm on the right, but I enjoy George Carlin's early work. Probably because I'm more libertarian than authoritarian - so I believe most institutions exist to indoctrinate and feed themselves financially by way of a lot of nonsensical beliefs. However as an individualist I also must someone else's right to worship/subscribe to what he/she wants. Anyway, if Carlin never belonged in the military, I think we always need men like him to attack the b.s. machine. Not to veer of course from the thread discussion or anything, just my $.02.

As far as feminization of young males - this has been a perceived problem for decades. Frederic Wertham warned of it in The Seduction of the Innocent. Often black culture is lumped in to further damn the younger generation's choices (jazz, blues, R&B, rap, etc.). Have we grown progressively (or regressively) more effeminate? Probably - since Western society is moving away from things that shape masculinity such as hard labor. We're a society of fatherless keyboard jockeys - out of shape, low in testosterone, emasculated by social engineering. Well, that is we're allowing it to happen. I'd like to see the pendulum swing back, but the problem is that the automatic response to anything "masculine" is ridicule, shaming, or ironic wink wink nudge nudge.

The last generation of men were the ones who kicked Hitler's ass.

From then on there has been a steady feminization of men, and masculinization of women.

That's why it's important to discuss this issue publically. This phenomenon has been happening under John and Jane Q. Public's noses without them even realizing it.

You may be right - but it's happening because men are allowing it. Unless it's the result of a cosmic rays.

There were older generations alive in the 40s who considered the "WWII" generation more feminized, too. It goes farther back than WWII.

No. We have three different choices in crackpot leftists Im afraid.

The Greens - Nutcase hippies who wont rest until we are back in the caves living as vegans and the country is being run by Kangaroos and the 3 remaining aboriginals.

Labor - Pseudo communist, socialist scum who believe in taxing the people to hell to pay endless handouts to the "aussie battler" while they bow to the demands of unions. Wont be happy until we are all in gulags

Liberal - Closest thing we have to a conservative party. Pro business to a degree, although still welfare happy and hippy friendly.

As an outsider looking in, you guys should be VERY afraid of your Democrats. The Republicans may have a reputation for being bible bashing conservatives, but I would take their nonsense over the gradual strangulation that is liberal politics thanks.

But I just derailed the thread. More Easy Rider, less Twilight lads.

Some men, me being one of us, can pull off wearing earrings. I get nothing but compliments with my hoops.

That's pretty gay, especially since it sounds like you wear hoop(s), as in more than one and NOT a stud earring.

That is out and out flaming gay. You can't get any gayer. Is this so your little boy toy friends can snap a lead chain to you and lead you around? Now it all makes sense why you are writing this book for men. You want to attract them to your gayness. What makes it even more funny is you look like a typical redneck from Central FL. Which you are. Too funny. I hate to think what goes on in that trailer down there late at night. You talk about wearing these piercings like you are proud of them. Aren't you like 40? You are one strange dude.

OK, this is going to be a rant. It may very well insult some. Others may agree with my thoughts. If you feel the need, you can tell me I'm F'd up.

What I'm seeing in the USA, is that men of all ages seem feminine to a degree. Not all, but many. Now keep in mind that I'm a white collar guy during the day, and then it's jeans and tshirts after hours. I see guys every day who wear that gel sh!t in their hair, bracelets, necklaces, skinny jeans and shirts with little designs and jewels on them, etc. WTF IS THAT!

I know that styles change with the times and such but sh!t, I'm starting to wonder if some of these guys are wearing panties! I'm sure BigJimbo will have some thoughts on this!

Bout' time these guys lose their panties, quit listening to fvckin rap music and stop bad mouthin' their country. Men should look and act like men.
Out here in CA it is even worse. Lots of little emo faggies wearing their tight little skinny jeans with their Beiber haircuts. Karma sutra might like them, but every time I see them, I seriously feel like going up to them and asking point blank to their face "what in THE HELL is wronggg with you"???

5 string, Im 35 and your memory must be going mate. I remember growing up seeing the boomer generation - your generation, my parents- in 'gel sh!t in their hair, bracelets, necklaces, skinny jeans and shirts with little designs and jewels on them'. I can supply the photos and youtube vids if you want ;-)
What were rockers (prog, blues, punk, new wave, hard, heavy metal, hairband), electrofunkers, soul and funk fellas, discokids wearing during the 70s and 80s ;-)

Thankfully it was your generation that has helped allowed men to wear ''gel sh!t in their hair, bracelets, necklaces, skinny jeans and shirts with little designs and jewels on them'.
Your generation thankfully overturned the then traditional western notions of masculinity and femininity, which are anything but traditional(women in all classes have always worked outside tthe home for example) and have existed not for thousands of yrs, but from only 1800ce ie.the stifling ‘work camp’ Victorian Temperance uppermiddle class ideal of masculinity and femininity that was ushered in, unfortunately by the 19th C ce revolutions in Europe and the social regimentation of the Industrial Revolution.
What is going on now, is a process of returning to more naturalistic masculinities and femininities, that we see echoed but not exactly in the histories

Also guess, which gender is first recorded as wearing high heels, stockings and suspenders, leggings, short dresses ;-)
besides anything a masculine man does, wears becomes masculine.
if a masculinity is scared of a piece of cloth, what does that say about the true strength of masculinity

Not me bruv. I'm pretty much a nutcase hippy who wont rest until we are back in the caves living as vegans and the country is being run by caribou and the 3 remaining full-blood Natives.

I'm just too much of a music fan to like hip hop and too involved in the community to ignore what it helps do to young black kids.

Carlin was no folk hero. He was discharged because he was butt lazy and "unproductive".
No doubt he was willing to spend his paycheck while leaving the heavy lifting to others.
