After coming off a week of rest I have come back sluggish I actually feel less interested in lifting anymore and this is not like me..I can't put a finger on it but maybe it's the summer heat I don't know but anyone else have this problem or did and what did you do to regain your energies to workout again.

Obvoiusly make sure nutrition, rest, etc is on point.

However, do you take zinc and magnesium?

This is what gets me everything listed is in good order Quagmire911. Not sure if age has anything to do with this but I doubt it...I get 8 to 9 hour sleep per night get protein above my bodyweight drink plenty of water and eat clean and get the necessary calories plus the zinc and magnesium suppliment I take.

It's like I am burned out I want to but just don't have the energy to push myself lately since coming back after the week off and the one workout I had was good after the week off but I gradually went down hill after that where everything started feeling very heavy.

I wonder if I should take another break and just extend it and see what happens but I hate doing that...

I would still get a zinc test, you can get them for $10. I take zinc and mine weren't where they should be. Just type zinc tally into google if interested.

People that workout need more zinc and magnesium than average, so the RDA probably won't cut it. How much are you getting in each day?

If you are feeling run down you may also want to get some blood tests. Just to make sure everything is in working order.

What is your routine looking like?

Just get back into it, even if you do feel less then average. That's how you build the mental strength required to succeed.

Take another week off and you will be building the personality of a quitter.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I was doing the 5x5 all the compound lifts plus I do Cleans but dropped it to 3x5 to see if this would help and it hasn't..

I am snacking on sunflower seeds all the time plus the supplement so I am not sure how much zinc all together and the other but the supplement I take it says 3 caplets equals 400 mg of magnesium and 15 mg of zinc and I take around 9 of those a day my bodyweight is 230 at 6-2 so with that I get 1200 mg of magnesium and 45 of the zinc not counting the sunflower seeds I eat. So not sure how much I should be getting.

The thing is I use powerlifting to relieve the stress and this sucks..

I may get a blood workup just to make sure.

Thanks Quagmire911

Thanks wolf116, I appreciate the motivation

I have been mentally tough to get this far in life I have learned that along the way but I'll take what you say to heart I will try tomorrow and if I have to lower the weights then at least I'll get in a workout and see how it goes.

Again wolf116 for the motivation and still thinking about your situation too my friend stay tough:up:

I've been feeling this way for the past month. I've lifted without a spotter forever, but since I'm moving to school in 1 day, that'll change, I think I'll use a mainly-machines routine for a few weeks to break the boredom and freshen things up.

My doc put me on this medication that has me tiring-out easily, I was even yawning during a set today, a 1st! I've had to settle w/lowering weights just to survive. He also kicked me off whey, so my recovery is poor, but he put me on coq-10 today. Hopefully this lull will vanish soon..The med he put me on is called inderal, a beta-blocker banned in canadian powerlifting for some reason.

NO-Xplode is good in moderation when you need a boost. Just don't take it every day or you'll develop a dependence and your workouts without it will be even worse.

Quagmire911 figured out what is possibly going on......

My volume is way to high on my routine so making some adjustments and going to give it a shot and see how it goes guess I have been to much an animal and it's caught up with me..

So I should lower my weights like I've started doing and go with higher rep schemes (i.e. 10-15 reps)? I'm getting my blood tested but not for anything related to this.

Quagmire911 might have more insight and can explain it better then I can but I had to consider my age is a factor in all this as well I am 49 so having a day of the week where I have deloads and higher reps is going to help in my recovery I will still do a 5 but just not everyday of the week I workout.. bet Superman would have been burned out on what I was doing.

Hope this helps.
