Well, if you are the type who likes to crawl under the car on hot asphalt and change the transmission fluid yourself, women do indeed love men who can fix cars. It's a great hobby. I kept my car all stock and it had every upgrade. Vader seats, in dash CD (it came with cassette originally), threaded steering wheel, carbon fiber trim, metal pedals. I loved that car like a family member for 18 seasons. It saw 33 states (all with the same gray cat).

What good is making a decent amount of money if I'm driving a 20 year old pickup with no a/c? I have to think of SOMETHING so that I don't just blend in with the crowd.

A car will not maximize your personality it will only slightly raise your SMV and mainly in low quality/value females. It Depends what 20+ year old pick up your driving. If it's a 70s c20 or k5 blazzer 4x4 raised frame off restoration then your ok. I have and had classic cars and trucks that made panties drop on sight and guys jock and drool over them more then my brand new cars and cars like Bentleys. But in hindsight the car only raised my confidence which in turn raised my personality which then raised my SMV. No matter what you do there will always be a more successful better looking AMOG out there and when it comes time for closing with women your car will be outside in the Parkinglot not being able to help you close at all.

At a certain point of car women do not have a clue what is up. It's more impressing to other low quality men. For example you could have a $70k 2017 Porsche next to a 2004ish BMW z8. Most women and low grade men would jock the Porsche. But the people in the know know that the BMW z8 is worth as much a 3 Porsche's.

Again if you have the 40k go buy a classic car for the women on the weekends and keep a brand new mid to upper range daily driver for work clients and women from time to time.
