The police is stupid like that sometimes (or maybe a lot of times). My mom was arrested and detained for half a day because she failed to appear at a trial as a witness (of a robbery in our own house) - because she was stuck in a traffic jam, which she reported at the time. The next morning the police came for her and she was put in a cell.
