For the most part, it is true; the odds are not in your favor. When playing the lottery the chances of you winning are very slim at best. Statistically speaking most marriages fail, (around 57%), less than 5 % of the people who meet at speed-dating events will last beyond 3 dates, net-dating services have less than 10% success rate, bars/clubs have about a 20-25% hook-up rate. Less than 1 out of 10 people you meet will click with you. Divorce lawyers & marriage counselors profit from failed relationships. Why do people continue forward knowing the odds are stacked against them ? A four letter word……..HOPE, it’s the “what if” illusion that pushes us to venture fourth. Dating services are counting on that illusion, they survive on REPEAT BUSINESS. Think about it for a moment, if everyone who signed up met their match on the very first profile they clicked on, it would eventually reach a saturation point. They are aware that most relationships fall apart, so they are relying on you returning to their site to find yet another match. To compensate, the dating services encourage repeat business by making the online experience simple, fun, and memorable. Speed-Dating companies offer a match guarantee that if you don’t find a match, your next event is discounted. They often brag about an 80-90% match rate but a match does not guarantee a date will follow. They are fully aware of this fact. For most, it all comes down to a numbers game. On average, you might be truly compatible with 4 people out of a 100 you will meet. Since the typical speed dating event has anywhere from 8-25 people, it should take you about 6 months or longer to find a long lasting partner you connect with. Hollywood break-ups flood the media, portray tragedy in an entertaining way, contribute to the spread of failure and it eventually becomes acceptable. This begs the question; How does one beat the odds and rise above to come out a winner. First, you might want to re-evaluate what your definition of a success is. Second, know how to spot the enticements to lure you back in. I mentioned that SDC (speed dating companies) utilize match guarantee discounts. NDC (net dating companies) often use DB (date bait) to get potential members to sign up. They allow people to send winks showing your interest for free but seldom allow you to communicate with them directly. They often send emails to remind you that someone is interested or has contacted you. You must become a member to respond to them, Match.com no longer allows people to read emails UNLESS you are a member. It circumvented people (who joined without becoming a member) from leeching. We have all seen those commercials from E-harmony trying to entice clients to their community. Match.com keeps re-inventing itself to rule the Net-Dating world. When a relationship fizzles, they want you to think and eventually return to them. Next, you need to become aware of the tips that give you an edge up on the competition. The more you know the more you grow, knowing is half the battle. Lastly, you must re-define what failure is……a step closer to a solution. We as humans learn by making mistakes, we then evolve and make corrections as we go. Failure is a learning process to evolution. Failure means you discovered a new way to succeed. Michael Jordan was cut from his basketball hi-school team, Einstein was sent home ‘cause the teacher said he was too stupid and then he flunked math, the point is you too can over-come obstacles to come out a winner. Your thoughts should focus on the right path to success, not the specific failure, or the past. The odds have not changed but they way in which you approach a problem has. You have to define your level of success. Often a fresh perspective reaps the benefits down the road. Venturing forward despite the odds is admirable. Think of it like this; 3 women to choose from instead of 97 women who said no. It may be true that persistence eventually pays off but why not try something new that increases your odds. Always remember the journey to reaching your ultimate goal can be just as fun. Every failure is knowledge gained, with knowledge comes wisdom. You may not have won but you may experience spin-off success for giving it your best.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.
