Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

OK, I want to talk about whats up in sydney --

From what I've experienced, there seems to be a strong apathy toward dating culture in sydney. It also seems that girls just simply aren't interested in meeting new guys. Everyone seems so ****ing conservative, at least where I am -- you only have a chance with a girl if you're in her social circle - i.e. school, college, uni. Even some of my friends in uni have said that its tough to beak into the tight cliques that tend to form!

So I'm wondernig -- what's the antidote to this? There's a hell of a lot of overseas students here in sydney -- how do they cope?

Maybe it's just me. Maybe my I'm supposed to be dressnig like a million dollars, have a groupies hanging to my shirt, roll up in a limozine, etc. just to get a ****ing date in the park with one of these broads.

But for the most part it seems like you can be the hottest guy on the block -- and still not get *anywhere* because you're just not in with the right cliques.

Oh BTW, sorry to be negative, but Sydney is *seriously* lacking in hot chicks. The ratio of fugly:average:hot is 70:20:10 im afraid.

Any feedback?...

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I live in New Zealand, and the situation is the same.

What's worse is that this is a secluded, medium city with a medium University ----> meaning every person here still has all their friends from Uni, and the Uni students grew up and went to high school with the same group of friends.

You've gotta get into groups and clubs - charity, political, sports, whatever. If you think you can stand it, show up for a meeting. It beats cold approaching in a town that's just not built for it.

this can't possibly be the case at night clubs can it?

it may not be your scene - it certainly is not mine... but it might be worth checking out.

it seems to me that people going through their day to day lives seem like they're not very into meeting strangers either.

but i'm betting the bar/club scene is different. i'm thinking of adding these venues to my repertoire. you guys may benefit from that as well.

We used to go to Sydney on leave and tear the place apart. Get out there and have fun! There's still a chick or two in Sydney I sleep with when I'm up there.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

hey LB,

i totally hear you about being the "quietish type"... but hear this ok, take it to heart, if you're not getting chicks as you are and as you are comfortable with, YOU NEED TO CHANGE!

seriously, i spent a great deal of my youth being bookish and smart as a whip and nerdy as heck.

but it got me nowhere. with women.

i have at least the development of a pretty good career to chalk up to my twenties but if there are no chicks for you now as you are and where you go, change.

spread your wings. stretch yourself. try the bar/club scene if you can. if you have buddies who do, tag along and just check it out.

or you can go the complete OTHER way and try going to church if that's more your speed.

idea is, get yourself to a place where women are and where it is okay (and they are open) to meeting you.

luck

So how did you meet these convenient ****-buddies -- I mean if you tore the place up Im assuming you mean went wild at the clubs, etc. Not just crashed out with some people you *already knew from way back*.

The fact is, if you're in the right social circle, you're pretty much SET UP as far as women concerned. I used to be in that situation with the local church -- I never even knew about sites like this!!

Unfortunately that all fell apart.

Its funny, I meet a lot of chicks online from the U.S. -- and I'm talking places like New York. They're very open to conversation! These are supposedly "harder to get" girls yet theyr very friendly and flirtatious.

It's a few years since I was in Sydney regularly.

Yeah, I'd meet them at clubs where we were partying hard. I think chicks in Sydney are a lot easier to 'get' than in Melbourne.

The f*ck buddies I catch up with occasionally in Sydney are girls I met in bars and clubs whilst out partying. I didn't meet any of them through friends or contacts.

Maybe I need a trip up to QLD, last time I was there was when I was 15. Had a the girls chasing me. Pity I was too stupid to actually lay any of them.

I could get out into the club scene more like some other guy was saying. There's been a huge influx of students (mainly asian), maybe that will shake things up a bit.

But when I step into the local bars, etc. the people have this way of making strangers really FEEL LIKE STRANGERS. The guys too. I'm not just talking b_tch-sheild.

Hey let me know if ur in Sydney sometime we could roll together :D

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
