Here is my advice if you ever get in a long term relationship as my 3 year one begins coming to an end. I started out as a jackass jerk whatever and my old girlfriend hated me the first two years she knew me then fell in love with me. She is a very controlling person and blah blah blah and after giving in to a lot of her nagging in 3 years, the relationship has changed me to a person she doesn't have feelings for anymore. Let this be a lesson to all of you. Always stay a jackass or else become a sniveling little ***** that you want to kill yourself. ~Zappa
 

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Hmmm.. David DeAngelo, once said in one of his newsletters: "Women resent men that they can control. But the paradox is that they'll keep trying JUST TO MAKE SURE THEY CAN'T."

Sadly, you're living proof that this is true.

yup tis true..

Ive had a few relationships where I went from jerk to AFC..then was dumped ..

Im not sure if relationships just start to get boring over the years..and losing interest in each other..or if the AFC'ness was turning the chick off

its really hard to tell..because Ive known women to dump "jerks" too..just because the chicks gave up on trying to "control" the guy and gain the upper hand

You don't really have to be a jerk, just be independent and don't apologize for it. Or--if it helps--imagine if she wasn't there, what would you be busy doing? Do it, and include her if it seems like it would be fun.

Just a little shift in perception here...

Anyway, Zap--bad day. Have a beer or two, catch a game at a decent bar, get the hell outa Dodge (your apartment) for a little while...
