"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Ok, I went to bed and this was getting to me so much that I figured I had to post it. Ok, I met this girl tonight, it was planned and I was not expected of her knowing we were there to meet, I was going to learn the skills I already learned. This caught me off guard, I was not ready for it at all. Also finding out she was Bi was a little unexpected but I need to know what to do to keep from freezing up when things do not go as planned. I am one who plans everything out by the minute when it comes to school and work and I need to break away from this with my social life. I am going to work on covering all senerios but I still would like to know what to do when things do not go as planned. I think I am still going to get her. My best friend is going to get the girl he wants, who is Bi, the girl he is getting is going to also go out with the girl I like, and I am hoping to go out with the girl I like. I know it sounds odd, but that is life for you. NO, I am not Bi or gay, just to clear that up. I hope this all works out but I need some tips on what to do when things do not go as planned. Thank You, Kegger.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

You need to take things as they come along. Nothing ever really goes according to plan in our lives as a teenager. New stuff always comes up, and we make choices to deal with it. These choices make up who we are.

Stop "planning to use techniques". You're already setting yourself up to get killed out on the battlefield. BE A DON JUAN. Whatever situation comes up, deal with it as best you can. Don't be afraid, be comfortable. If you have questions, ask them here. If you want us to evaluate, then post your field report here.

Nice, not cliche, not wrong, but just a taaaaad too many big words to be a quick quote.

Expect the unexpected, not always, but there are the right times to expect the unexpected. Don't be waiting, ready to jump at the drop of a hat. Don't get jumpy, hear me?

Okay, calm down, it's not scary, she's bi. Have you heard of racism, well it extends across several boundaries, practice tolerance. If it scares you that bad, stop. Call her out on being bi, and tell her you don't like it... see if she can change your mind.

The unexpected are things, that are just outside of normal, just outisde of being extreme. Sometimes you think things extend social boundaries, but there really are none. Social class, tribal societies, muslim, christian, russian, american, canadian, are all control groups, with members who do not get the whole picture. So of course people are going to let out little gasps for help. You've got to stop letting it all affect you, if you haven't experienced it before, why get bothered by it, you should in fact be enjoying your new found experience, because it's not everyday somebody gives you a gift that is unique to your mind.

So next time something unexpected comes up, don't pretend to not notice it. That will only confirm THEIR thinking, blow their minds, tell them you noticed.

So as always, do your own thing, be the prize. Don't go off on tangential thinking and wonder about every aspect of the problem, what happens if something you weren't prepared for happens, and just a step to the side, and than standing your ground would have solved the problem. I know I'm going too in depth here, but that is my goal, and I don't like to conform without a fight. So next time something unexpected happens, what are you going to do? What kind of thoughts are going to go through your head? If it scares you, why run? Just stop worrying, and check to see if it is damaging or not, if it is controllable, than control it, if you lack the knowledge, they obvously have something to help you out... try to get it out of them, just don't give up so easily.

my 34 cents there, I know there is more, and so do you... since I expected the unexpected, I gave you a little more to look at, just my way of standing my ground.

Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected?

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Why how smart of you two mix up those two words... yes and making the unexpected expected means expect the unexpected... 2+1=1+2 WOWOWOWOWOW!!!! Sorry, just I hate seeing useless questions... none are stupid, but pointless and just a damned waste of space..... hmmmm

Alright, if that was supposed to mean something after all, what was it that you meant immrtlwun... even the name, *shudders*

I thank you for all the help, I am trying to get things worked out. I also have always heard after you get one girlfriend you can get many. Is this true and if so is it becuase you become more calm, or what is up with that? Thank you. Also do u think there is anything wrong with dating some in 7th grade if you are in the 10th. Thank You, Kegger.

To ethnomethodologist, it was just a joke, no meaning at all. Unless you want to say that making the unexpected the expected means that you are prepared for anything that comes your way, expected or not.

To kegger, the thing with having a girlfriend bringing more girls is that you are, theoretically, more relaxed and confident. You don't have to be needy and clingy, becasue you've already got a girlfriend.

For your other question, I wouldn't personally mess around with middle school girls as a high schooler. If you think about it, it's only three years or so, but the girls change a lot during those three years between 7th and 10th grade.

There ya go, thanks for adding to the conversation and not trolling it sir... nobody likes useless;) I'm glad I could help, but your not going to fool me twice into telling you the same thing over again!

Yeah...
This is to Kegger now, stay away from the young ones dude, they are immature, actually unless it's for a learning experience, or for your future, stay away from High School girls all together... aim for the best, knowledge is key, so search for a smart girl, not somebody that resembles a child and that all of your friends would laugh at you for going out with.
