Well demon, your points are all valid. Obviously people are grossed out by the thought of cousin relationships because of societal conditioning. Some people will never be able to look past societies values with an open mind. Personally I don't think I could overcome that "wierd" feeling either mostly because nobody else would accept it. I don't have to worry about this though because I have no female cousins! Heh.

Same as with Muslim countries and India, where more than half of all marriages are between first or second cousins. It's a way of keeping the wealth in the family. You feel closer to your son-in-law if he's your nephew.
But we don't do that sort of thing in America (outside of Appalachia) or Europe. Although it's probably not as bad as, say, trying to get with another guy's wife!
