"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I hope I don’t sound unreasonable and argumentative. I’m open to a private discussion and exchange of ideas.

Absolutely, I just read that your a Lesbian. Now I know where you're coming from, I respect your views and open to new ideas. What in particular would you like to talk about? And by the way where are you from? What's your ethnicity? Do you live in Asia or The United States? I'm a Disabled US Veteran who travels back and forth between South Texas and South East Asia with my parents who I take care of, every 6-8 months. I'm definitely open to new cultures and ways of life as I've experienced a bit of a culture shock where I'm currently at.

Oh what part of Southeast Asia? I’m Vietnamese but American born.
I’m not really a lesbian. I’m married to a woman but she’s the only woman I’ve had romantic feelings for and I’ve only had sex with a few women over the years. I’m like 95% straight, I just love my wife very much.
I didn’t have a particular topic in mind. It just seemed like it may lead to some interesting conversations. Also, your username. I grew up playing piano and guitar ( smiley face)tell me about your culture shock. What’s going on? Did you have to relocate? I’ve done some long road trips around the U.S. and Canada. The cultural differences are noticeable.

The Philippines, my parents are karaoke and beach person’s fortunately, plus super thrifty with their money. We’ve met a few dudes who would show us around out here and even met a nice gentlemen doctor at the Veterans clinic in Manila. Its nice out here, you can go fishing and play basketball with the guys. As far as the culture shock, it’s probably just the subtle differences within how they perceive family. Theres women who are the sole bread winners, lots of house husbands which I see nothing wrong with. Parents living with their adult children house hold and the elderly is well respected and regarded here as opposed to being put in nursing homes in the states. It’s rather family oriented than ‘ hey look at my freakin career’ lol.

And thats great that you found someone, not many people experienced great love in their life, Im glad you found it. Ive been on a few relationships and fortunately Im still friends with my exes. Im not really looking for someone right now and stay active by volunteering, Martial arts sparring with the guys and most of all my dog. I love to walk it to the park and go snuggle up and go camping on a tenth by the beach.

The Philippines is great. Such friendly people. It’s a stark contrast between Asian and western family values for sure. Asians take care of family no matter what. Elderly live with family and help with the children. Western children often move out as soon as they are old enough and elderly live alone for too often. It’s sad and just makes everyone’s lives more challenging. However, western parents often show so much outward affection for their children. My grandmother never once said “ love you “ to my mom. Even my mother seldom says it or hugs me but I know she loves me. Asians just tend to show affection through acts of service. I believe in some balance between the two is perfect.

Yeah I would say my father was the most affectionate early on in my childhood, while my mom was the strict disciplinarian. There both laidback now and I would say we have a friendship relationship now more than anything else where we’d gather round, eat breakfast and drink coffee in the office or restaurant patio. If I ever get kids, Id be mixing both styles altogether, would teach them martial arts, yoga and tai chi and would teach them to get involved with their community and volunteer. At an early age though Id want to be the playful one, and be the disciplinarian when I have to.

Thats a cute dog. Heres mine.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

No big plans today. Farmers market later and maybe book airfare for a trip to LA in November.

Autumn is great, When I get back to America Im gonna have the chance to do yardwork with a good buddy of mine. I wonder if I can keep up and get down and get my hands dirty lol I love the idea of getting a cold beer to sit down and reflect after the job is done though. As for the weekend, probably go shopping with my parents to the mall, go to a cafe and listen to some good music on my headphones and chill.

How would you guys spicen this convo?
When she wrote: "hope I don’t sound unreasonable and argumentative", you missed your shot to reply: "No, upon learning you were a lesbian though, I just imagined you being unshaven and weighing in at over 800 pounds. Hope my initial impressions of you end up being more inaccurate than that dude in Tuscon's marksmanship was, the day he went Rambo on Gabby Giffords"

Better luck next time

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

I think I need to continue being myself personality wise but try less harder and incorporate some humor or ****y and funny in the mix.
