"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

This is sad.

I have friend at work. We are in the co shooting league together. Great guy. I was just talking to another fella who told me this man had gone in for a physical and they suspected colon cancer. We, that's what it was. He had his entire colon removed yesterday. He's middle aged. Lotsa life left, the quality of which will now never be the same.

Plus, a business aquaintance of mine passed away yesterday.

Further, within the last few years, I have lost some really good friends. Some to taking their own lives and others to sudden sickness. All of them fine people.

I know this is depressing but geez. WTF!

I think when I get home tonight I'm gonna make it a point to tell the Mrs I love her and play with my dogs a bit.

And, feel fortunate I'm still swingin and duckin. Maybe I should start a bucket list.

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Knowing I could die at any moment makes me overcome my petty fears, and they are petty. I have nothing to lose I'm not getting out of here alive.

The thing that gets me with all this is that except for one, all of my friends who died or got sick were in their 30's, 40's and 50's.

That's just not fair.

I learned a long time ago that life is not fair. But it is what it is and have to accept that I have no control over it.

You know you're getting old when you are attending more funerals than weddings. It's a part of life. Two of my good friends died within the last year and a half and it truly was a wake up call.

The bigger picture has a way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it. I hope the younger "mature" men are at least somewhat aware that there will come a time of questioning and an existential crisis will hit them. Hopefully, they will have prepared themselves with the answers that'll let them move on with strength and courage.

Cheers!

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

I think I hit my "existential crisis" early. I often have thoughts about death...i.e. trying to imagine a world where I no longer exist, or about the insignificance and vulnerability of our world to...well, basically whatever.

Thinking about the vast lengths of empty space, about other stars billions of miles away where there may be life forms humanity will one day make contact with, but the technology will likely not exist (hell, the physics themselves may not be known) that will allow ME to ever reach those far-away places...I just won't live long enough.

I start to worry whether I've already missed out on some awesome experiences. Even dating will bring that into question...are all the "good women" already married off?

I'll tell you what bugs me the most...the older I get, the more I see "fellow" adults for what they really are, instead of what I imagined them to be back when I was young. I find it harder and harder to find sources of inspiration in the people around me, to find ways to "grow" that have any significance. I look around at the people close to me.

Sure, I may not be able to just spawn an empire out of nothing, but I expect to see the next small step I can take, the next thing to stick my nose into, maybe in the example of those around me. But it seems like the older I get, the less inspired people are...the more they are starting to reach points where they don't care to expand the breadth of their life experiences any more. No one wants to take anything to the next level...they "dabble" at best, just enough to learn the most basic parts of everything so they can pontificate with a bunch of other lazy, uninspired f*cks. Case in point...this forum. :p

I start to wonder if the loss of desire, of motivation, of will to change is a consequence of growing old...and I feel it in myself. Sometimes I feel like I'm fighting "growing up" because other "grown-ups" have lost their sense of wonder and passion for living...it's become "routine" for them.

I have been starting to think about the bigger picture for about a year now... and sadly I don't have many answers. As you have a few years on me can you please share what you've learned.... It could be about God or Philosophy or whatever.... I feel like I am just floating around this earth until I die.

Life is just that, until you're dead.

We'll all be "pushin up daisies". Just a matter of time.

Have you got a couple of hours?

What I've learned is too broad. Maybe if you had a specific question it might be a little easier.

Cheers!

Regrets!!!! yes I have a few...i have lots!

if I could turn back time (and if this site had been around grrr) things would have been mighty different.
if you see something you want, desire, need...go for it (providing its legal and ethical, my only disclaimers). you dont want to be living with regret

"You Can't Argue a Woman Into Liking You"

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.

Age-old question man. Philosophy, religion, science...there are many approaches...why we are here is a bit of a mystery...personally I'd say there are many "levels" to life, and depending upon how deep you want to go in a certain direction there is surely quite a bit to learn.

hehehe

"Life you see, is a mystery, nobody knows exactly why or how it be, why do you hold on when you ought to let go, tune on in and find your flow."

And maybe it's too AFC and I'll get burned, but I would say: when you find something that really pulls at you [internal passion, internal identity] and you begin down that path, a whole new world opens up that you may never have thought possible--there are walls--there are resistances--but there are some fountains of discovery out there that just keep flowing.
