"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I'm not really talking about junior or high school, but I mean later in post-secondary college and they still demand and expect you to do so many things. It's like I'm not even doing what I really want to do, only what is expected of me.

One of my parents is so controlling that they know my school schedule and what classes I'm suppose to register in for what semester and everything. Does anyone else have parents like that?

As for the education system, I think it essentially puts people in the wrong frame of mind. Instead of learning because you want to learn, we read and do homework in order to pass a test because we don't want to repeat it and pay money and effort. I take a look at others on sosuave who run successful million dollar companies, and they use the opposite mind: WANTING to get ahead with self-desire, instead of doing something because some instructor tells you to do it.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

Are you Asian? Because many Asian parents are like that.
If it's true, then welcome to the model minority syndrome community...

Being Chinese myself, I know too well what this means. Fortunately, I have democracy at home, so I have never been forced to do things I don't want to do. Only suggestions...:D

After high-school, my dad really wanted me to study finance, but instead I went to study maths/physics/engineering/computer science, and for the last two years, I recycled into marketing. I'm taking my first "real" job working in marketing for the biggest cosmetics company in the world. Sometimes my dad still talks about how big I would have made if I had chosen finance, that's about it.

I think you need to have a serious talk with your parents, they are probably doing more harm than good by pushing you into things you don't want to do in your life. Try to make them understand this.

But again, it depends on what you want to do, it depends if it's "reasonable". If what you want to do is becoming a gangsta rapper and your parents want you to at least get an undergrad degree in business or engineering, then I think they are right.
When I was studying for my marketing degree in one of the best big-azz French business schools, I've met quite some aspiring artists, their dream was to become full time musicians. But they know that' it's hard and unlikely to live comfortably just by being an unknown musician, so they still wanted to get this business degree just in case it doesn't work out. They would still be able to get decent corporate jobs.

Hope you see what I mean.

If you're Asian and you don't plan to have a career in engineering, business, law, or medicine, you're not going to get along with your parents.

One of my friends decided he wanted to be an actor...he hasn't spoken with his parents (a successful businessman and a doctor) in ages.

If you dont like what you are studying enough to dedicate yourself to it then you should change your major or do something else.

Im lucky that I found what I love so I study 8 or 9 hours every day, I know I have to do something, but its a pleasure for me. I dont see it in terms of having to do stuff, I dedicate myself to my study so Im happy if I get the chance to test myself, I also get and do the homework from other courses of the same faculty.

It all depends on your frame of mind.

Well everything up until graduating high school is going to suck for you. However, once you get to college, your parents do not have the right to see your grades unless you want them to. So put up with the shennanigans for 1 more year and you're free.
