"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

there is no such thing as a recession proof job.

a job is only secure / stable if there is less supply than demand, recession or no recession.

the only job i can think of that might even qualify is 'recession' proof would be that of a doctor - because the demand always outweighs the supply.

Of course there are - you just have to think outside the box.

Wutang, have you noticed that when the stock market is having a bad day, BUD and the beer companies will usually be up on the day? When life is hard, people drink more beer.

Firearms dealer is one job that comes to mind as never going away. The worse the economy, the more people value guns. I would guess that any business that feeds off the human condition will always be around - like selling beer to guys who had a rough day. Recession creates misery - successful businesses will cater to that misery - guns, alcohol, drugs, prostitution, and gambling will all prosper.

well, those jobs are recession proof because demand outweights supply. if there was a gun shop on every corner, then supply would outweight demand and the job wouldn't be recession proof.

all i was saying is that the term 'recession proof' is a misnomer - its really just about supply demand.

Health care is where its at.

My grandfather grew up in the Great Depression and told me stories about how his family wasn't hit too hard because his father was a physician. Of course they were often paid in means other then cash and he even admitted that the majority of patients were teachers because they were the only ones that could pay in cash.

I imagine then that Teaching would also be a decent field to be in during a recession.

Not saying that like alcohol companies these professions would flourish during a depression but they would probably be a lot less hit then others.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Civil service. I am guaranteed protection from the possibility of being laid off so long as I continue to do my job well and don't do things which would get me fired. The real importance of this protection did not really sink-in until recently when the economy started noticably nosediving. Granted, this week I probably will try finding a second job because inflation is making life tough, and yearly pay raises are across the board and insulting, but nonetheless the day job is fo sure.

Actually wutang, salesman is the most recession proof job there is.

If you are a good salesman, you are generating income for the company. You will never get laid off under such circumstances.

Wrong. Wutang is right. Lowered disposable income = less sales.

You are forgetting the part where salespeople get fired for not making sales during a declining economy.

Recession. Dont be afraid. Has happened before, might happen, and will happen again int he future. all economies fluctuate. Relax and enjoy while everything is still standing.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

What about people having degrees in financial engineering or MBA from a top university? Are they recession proof?

Most recession proof business: Investor.

Being an investor means taking, acquiring, managing capital to invest it in financial vehicles such as: Bonds, stocks, businesses (Limited for example), real estate, royalties from copyrighted material, or anything of the like.

I say this because most financial markets/systems also allow for a good investor to make money while the market is shrinking and/or the economy is going into recession through financial derivatives such as: short selling, options, certificates and the like.

Also pretty secure is a government job, as governments rarely cut back on administration.

well.... if you're smart about picking your industry

if you're an engineer and get into biomedical engineering, you'll be riding the rampup with all the baby boomers needing to get artificial limbs and implants

health care is gonna be hot until we die. nursing is ridiculous right now, you get LVN cert and you're already making a middle class income. there's also gonna be a shortage of doctors in the future, I'm pretty jealous of guys like Plasticsurgeon. they're set til they're buried

some government jobs are reputable for not laying people off. Department of Water and Power over here hire's electrical engineers. if they want to fire you, they pretty much have to take you to court to prove you did something bad so the only way you'll get fired is if you're a complete moron. awhile back, they had to pay people around 25k to voluntarily quit

and MBA's make bank but in industry at least, management is one of the first to go when a company's downsizing

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

This and alcohol distributor are good ones.

Government will always need some form of military and police.

One of the last things to be cut will be garbage collection.

Prescription drugs will be fairly safe, I would expect the prices to get cut drastically and for the pills to be taken over by government not private, we can't allow serious mentally ill people to suddenly all stop taking medication.

Even in a recession, there will always be filthy rich people who need someone to mop their floors and watch their babies.

Entertainment will likely always be around. People are pathetic and desperate and need an escape, look at the success of dance marathons during the depression. Fantasy is better than reality, alcohol and entertainers will always be around.

The problem with most of the jobs you just mentioned is that none of them really require much special skill. So sure, rich people will need someone to mop their floor, but there will be plenty of newly unemployed people jumping to do that job. Supply is greater than demand.

While that’s true, the people who were in those jobs before the recession would likely keep the job, not get replaced by a failing stockbroker. The jobs don’t require much skill, but the person who currently has the job and has been there for a while is safe no matter the economy.

But im not advising people to become janitors for long-term stability

Just saying they are essentially recession-proof. The maintenance guys at my Univ have secure and easy jobs at around $20/hr. I actually applied but got rejected in favour of immigrants.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.
