drinking shakes question

Sup. Ive heard that you should only drink about 3 of your meals. Meaning you should only be allowed to drink 3 shakes a day from food, because if you DRINK all of your meals, your body wont really absorb the carbs/calories or something like that. Is this true? I am planning to make shakes from my meals because i dont really have a lot of time to sit down and eat my meals.
