So a girl I'm currently dating hosted a get together on Sunday and as she was driving home, she got pulled over by a cop. She pretty much only had about 2 small cups of wine, but apparently that was enough to be over the limit of .08% here in Michigan.
Here is my rant though and this is why going forward, I'm NO LONGER drinking anything socially at events, parties, bars, clubs, etc., anymore where after the social event is over I have to "drive home".
When you take a close look at this .08% law and the "how many drinks" calculator, you can have something as SIMPLE as two 12 oz. beers and that might hit this limit. It also depends on your tolerance level, so you might only have ONE fvcking 12 oz. beer and hit the .08% range.
Going forward, I am flat out NO LONGER drinking at social events, bars, clubs, etc. What I've been doing for awhile (on my diet cheat days) was to buy beer and come home and drink it with people I'm with, or at least drink it over someone's house and crash there for awhile instead of immediately getting up and driving.
I think you guys ought to consider this practice as well. It just doesn't make any sense to me, when you go to the bar and watch a damn Connor McGregor fight, you are going to have at least 3 or 4 beers as the entire UFC pay-per-view takes place over a couple of hours. You could leave the bar and a police officer is waiting across the street, pulls you over, now you are slapped with a DUI and $5,000 in fees you have to pay (attorney and related fees).
How these laws don't put bars out of business is beyond me? I guess most people just don't give a damn and figure they can maneuver around the police. I'm just not taking that chance anymore.
