I was recently watching a documentary, Generation Iron 2, and 8x Mr. Olympia Lee Haney was interviewed on the subject of girls and chasing dreams, specifically chasing the dream of becoming a pro bodybuilder. He says that when guys are up and coming that they should not have any thing serious going on in their lives, in terms of women, as it derails them from their main goal.

Do you guys find this to be true? When you guys enter into a new LTR, do you find yourself drifting away from your goals?

I believe that once you get a serious relationship unless your path requires stability more than ambition, you freeze in your current position.

If we think about the biggest conquerors of our history and most creative scientists none of them was engaged in a serious relationship.

Personally Im a full spectrum libertarian so most things that have a limiting factors cause me problems even those damn holydays and the gym closed in the middle of my bulking phase.

Women are a drain on resources, time, and money. If you are chasing some serious dreams that involve large amounts of investment on your part then most women will be a hindrance. Stay focused, if they want to help you get there then great, if not let them find somebody else. Make it all about you. You will have plenty of time in life for women, but you only get few opportunities to chase dreams.

Depends. Ive found that the perception of having a stable, supportive, low maintenance partner at home is the most productive situation for me, however in each and every case it was not only not true but devastating and incredibly counterproductive once it ended. But there is no question that the guy who feels stable and secure in a relationship without any loneliness or pull towards the Hunt is more productive than a purely single guy imo.

That works for me too. "in house puzzy" and support system. Most of my goals and things I chase don't require me to totally isolate myself from others. A good woman will help you get where you are trying to go and will be adding the resources and upkeep of the home environment.

The reason being for this is that you can spend more of your time working on resources instead of TRAVELLING back to your home and having to prepare stuff yourself. It actually IS more productive regardless of what some men here will say. Only problem is finding a woman who will do all this without question.

Albeit, Genghis kept killing all of his raped so many women that ~1% of the world population is related to him today.... but he had women helping him nonetheless. Serial monogamy. Now let's look at the Ummayad and Abbasid Caliphate. The Sultans of each were faithful to wives, although some of them may have had more than one. The greatest conquerors still were engaged in serious relationships. It's just that their women were NOT their top priority, unlike most men.

You may have a point however when I think of Caesar, Leonardo da vinci, Tesla, Newton, most greek philophers I see men minding their own business first and often not minding women at all.
Hard to say if its women slowing them down or excellent men being totally driven in one direction.

So yeah we can settle that it was a matter or priority and monogamy mostly, genghis khan probably got a different woman for his leisure the same way a teenage guy picks a porn star to fap at.

Anyway I wouldnt talk about "top priority" because that implies that women were one while in fact they were not at all except for some friction once in a while.

Of course this rule is not general but I would also add that according to many researches married men get a drop in their test while women get a load in theirs, its natures way to make them more compatible with each other.
Nevermind that sometimes it goes over the limit and they switch roles.

Btw our modern western concept of wife is not the same of an eastern middle age one.

One of the aspects of English expansion vs. other European empire builders is that English folk brought their wives with them, where other Europeans (particularly the spanish and portugese) sent only dudes who ended up mixing their genes with the target population.

To the OP's question, it all depends on the guy, the goal and the girl. And a lot of other variables.

A bodybuilder, for example, will need to keep a tight diet, diet sleeping schedule, and it's very hard to compartmentalize that. Bodybuilders also associate with the kind of girls who are more into the alpha body rather than an alpha empire, and those would be the worst partner for a bodybuilder.

OTOH, some guy who's building a business around, say, landscaping may be able to leave it all when he comes home. In that regard, I imagine having a fully supportive and understanding spouse would be an asset.

OTOH, I know a lot a couple of guys who build non-traditional businesses, with very fluctuating incomes (in the early years) and that is not something a lot of family oriented ladies would like. There was always pressure to get a "regular job" which provides a steady income stream.

I suppose it all boils down to the particular goal/empire at hand, the guy's ability to sort properly for asset-women rather than liability-women, etc.

To be quite honest though, all of those guys were a bunch of weirdos lol. They didn't exactly have very good social skills to say the least. Maybe the Greek philosophers but even they seemed a bit strange, and some people even question their existence.
