Dr. Phil isn't a feminist, he just tells the mass audience what it wants to hear. Hes a walking hypocrite, if you feel like wasting 5 minutes of your life go read up about him on wikipedia lol. His first wife claims he cheated on her a bunch, and forced her to stay at home as a domestic house wife, and life weights to improve her bust line, oh yah he apparently also boned some 19 year old client at his practice back in the day and hired her after.

Mystery isn't stupid, and I've used some of his ideas to good effect and to troubleshoot an issue here or there. But a lot of what is attributed to the "system" only works because well, getting laid just isn't that difficult, not because of some super magic system that can be "exposed".

Most so called internet PUAs look like a bunch of nerds to me. I'd laugh my ass off if they went around teaching thousands and thousands of guys in my city, even if every single PUA in the entire world moved to my city and taught workshops, I would still get laid as often as I wanted. It makes pretty much nil difference. It's like saying someone is going to eat all the good Seafood and there will be nothing left, or worrying if too many people start riding the bus you won't get a bus pass.

Learn to see these guys for what they really are, guys who want your money and goad you into believing they have some magic secret you just have to have. Don't give them your $$$ to buy more escorts with. Be smart. The last thing in the world anyone should loose sleep over is *this stuff getting mainstream*. Really I can assure you it's a non-factor.

i think by the end of the show the Mystery method instructors did a good job at seperating their teachings from the sleazy stuff out there. By the end i felt dr phil saw the good side in helping build men's confidence.

the best part was when a girl said she doesn't like to think a guy has a taught, made up routine to appoach her...and dr phil said...well don't you havea routine of getting ready before you go to the club...its social dynamics! lol

My point wasn't users of the Mystery Method are at risk or cheap pick-up-line users. The idea was, considering Dr. Phil has a predominately FEMALE audience (millions of 'em) who hang on every word he says, perhaps they'll be weary of ANY man who hits on them, thinking they're up to no good, REGARDLESS of his approach! After word-of-mouth, etc, this thing could become a real threat...but I doubt it will.

This just reinforces why its important not to use anything canned or fit into the "seductor" mold. Spit your own game, and you'll be a lot better off.

if the Mystery method really did work, people here would be getting laid tonight, tomorrow night, the night after that and so on.

I was doing a bit of research on this episode and I discovered that Style was first asked to go on it. Here is the text

Style said:
...Secondly, I wanted to share some thoughts on an experience I had this week.

I received a call from two producers on the Dr. Phil show. They wanted me to come on and discuss The Game and the community with Dr. Phil.

However, the more I talked to them, the more it seemed like a set-up. So I declined. Instead, they got two of the people in The Game to participate.

And they did a few sneaky things, according to those who were on the show:

1. They filmed some guys sarging, but planted women with secret cameras in the club.

2. They didn't tell one of the PUAs that another guru was going to be on the show, then they encouraged the guru to be adversarial. The result was a PUA slugfest that sounded like a bad day at Project Hollywood.

3. They brought out a woman at the end of the show who'd been hurt by a man who was NOT in the community to confront these guys.

The working title of the segment: WOMEN, BEWARE!

This information just broke my heart. It really infuriates me.

When I wrote The Game and went on to do the press, I told myself that I would neither DEFEND nor ATTACK the seduction community. I'd simply present the truth as it was, the good and the bad.

However, the more interviews I did, the more I realized I was going to have to defend something: The right of guys to learn this.

Anyone who's ever seen the front page of Cosmopolitan or Sex in the City knows that self-help, sexual improvement, dating advice, and attraction skills is an accepted rite of passage for women.

There is no equivalent for men: We are simply shown images of women we are supposed to desire in the pages of Maxim and Playboy, then not told what to do about it.

People get tutored for everything else in life. If you can't do math, you get a tutor. Sex in the City was women getting tutored in what to do with different types of men. I think the coolest thing someone could do is recognize their weakness and work to improve it.

When guys ask me questions, it's usually not about what to do to trick a woman into bed -- it's about how to get over heart- break, whether Alexander Technique will improve their posture, whether improv classes will make them more spontaneous, what to do about "this one special girl," how to dress, and so on.

Though some of the "gurus" may have their issues, 99.9 percent of the guys I met learning this are the NICE GUYS. They are the guys women always say they are looking for, yet at the same time are never attracted to.

Usually, the true *******s, jerks, and misogynists are too ****y and arrogant to even consider that they might need to "learn" how to interact with women.

So anyone who's going to get on a bully pulpit and demonize men for trying to improve themselves is not a friend of mine.

And any pundit who's going to criticize men for manipulation when that's exactly what their show producers regularly do to their guests is not a friend of mine.

The community may have its problems -- especially for those who get sucked too deeply into it, as I did -- but there's nothing wrong with learning social skills, if you're learning from the RIGHT teachers.

The real victims in my experience were not women. The victims I witnessed, the people I saw hurt by the game, were only men. Because the game is a forking path: there's a light side and a dark side, and some get lost in the dark side and lose themselves -- in addition to creeping out the very women they're trying to attract.

As a writer, I understand the temptation members of the media feel to create an obvious sensationalism piece. But it's far better to do the research and find the REALITY of a situation -- and it makes a better story. Because the reality is often never obvious. Sometimes it's the last thing you'd ever expect. That's what most of my books are about.

I realize this email is sort of a rant, and perhaps I'm even preaching to the converted, but I had to get it off my chest. There are some 35,000 of you on this list. Some of you are in positions of influence or respect -- whether on campus, in the media, at home, at work, or in a community.

Let's do our best to counter small-mindedness and social pressure designed to hold US back because of someone ELSE'S fear wherever we hear it. Whether it's about learning the game, a personal attack against you, or something else you care about, don't take the bait and get defensive. All you have to do is speak the truth. It's the best weapon you have, and so sharp that no one can ever bend it if you wield it properly -- without fear or insecurity.

And that's one to grow on,
Neil
I think it's very well written. Due to the twists of society many men these days have to be taught. It's the very reason this site which currently has 33,823 members, exists.

You have a porn site in your signature. I somehow doubt you have the experience to be deciding whether a given method works or not. Why don't you leave your bedroom and try it out for yourself?

This was my favorite part of that whole thing.

As if I needed another reason to like Neil Strauss. Great job.

I give Mystery total credit for breaking down the concept of attraction and explaining it in purely cerebral terms. I thoroughly enjoy understanding how it works mechanically. It makes a lot more sense now, and it was a lot easier to not be offended by things after I understood how they worked.

But all in all, the notion of having to learn routines and lines and canned material just seems a bit ridiculous to me. That stuff does work, but it's a lot less fun and makes the whole thing more of a chore than something enjoyable to me. Attracting women is supposed to be a natural occurrence. It's also supposed to be fun. I like Pook's outlook a lot better. It's liberating rather than confining.

I read the MM once. It said that you use these lines as training wheels and then come up with your own materials later. The idea of having a routine is to be prepared. If you know how to be prepared and have experiences dealing with many scenarios, you don't need to memorize anything.

Many things we say to other people are the results of our learning from what other people, in real life or in movies/fictions, say.

The Mystery clones are the lazy guys who don't understand the system. They just want a quick fix for their problems. We have plenty of that type here on this very forum.

That email from Style gest a big  from me. Spot on.

I say good ****ing riddance if its in the open. I wont deny that it does work but its just something that men should be avoiding IMO. Sorry, but when you need hardcore systems teaching you how to interact with people, its time to step back and look at what you are becoming. Its cold calculating bull**** worthy of women. Its not natural. Yes, there are some do and some donts. But these are basics someone like Doc Love covers. Hell, its something you should pick up when you are in school and college FFS.

Im so sick and tired of this whole "game" thing as if its the secret cure to getting lucky. You have nerdy teens reading seduction material on the web who seem to think that the only way to interact with women is to neg hit and methodically ****y and funny their way into their panties.

If I am not mistaken, more then half of the people that visit this board are still virgins? There was a poll a while back. Its scary how many virgins are on these seduction websites sprouting of advice and tactics that they have studied by heart yet failed to apply in any meaningful way. Im willing to bet that more then 80% of the people in these communities have not even racked up double figures.

Dr Phil getting his hands on this means he is going to present it as a cold calculating method to con women into bed BECAUSE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT ****ING IS. As much as I hate the bastard, is he so far off? Mystery Method does nothing but paper over huge chunks in your short commings, which result in short term success in getting sex only.

You are misrepresenting yourself to get laid. Just like an attention ***** misrepresents herself to get attention, you misprepresent yourself to get laid. Its creating an army of men who are the male equivilent of attention *****s.

SERIOUSLY. Now that all this PUA stuff is basically exposed Ive been really hesitant to try anything that would seem too cliche like indirect openers. Sucks too because I just started cold approaching.

This show basically amounted to an infomercial. Ross Jefferies, Mystery, Dr. Phil, all of them sell the same product and pander to the same insecurities of both sexes. They have different ways of approaching it, but they're all selling the same thing.

Be glad you know about SoSuave. The DJ/Positive Masculinity ideology goes so much deeper than PUA technique. PUA skills are useful tools and have their purpose, but all they are is method, not the end to the means. You can ape the behaviors and learn the scripts of all the best PUAs in the world to get the "girl of your dreams", but you'll revert right back to your AFC mindset once you do have her (or the first girl to REALLY have an IL in you) and be worse off than when you were a chump wondering why you couldn't get a second date. All the most bulletproof Game in the world wont change your mind about yourself, wont open your eyes to the mechanics of inter-sexual relations, and wont kill your inner AFC. In fact Mystery, and Jefferies, and RSD, and Dr. Phil, and D' Angelo, and any others of rest of them selling DVDs and site memberships and filling convention rooms for seminars wouldn't have a constant revenue flow if you did learn to kill your inner AFC.

Why? Who cares? All you have to learn is that you are the man and live life as such. You don't need the pick up lines and BS. All you need is love, respect, and confidence for yourself. You also have to always care a little less than the woman.

Great philosophy on conduction life. Not so applicable to actual seducing/banging women who you want, when you want. The irrational forces of the human mind need to be studied in order to make that work, and that's what the Mystery method and other such methods provide.

actually that is the most interesting and thought provoking statement that I have had on this board in a long time Rollo.
