Okay, maybe I just have a hair-trigger with this stuff, but how is the following ad totally fine when any ads exploiting female sexuality are (often quite rightfully) considered sexist?
Imagine that the male model was replaced with a female model, and the women lurking behind the mirror and salivating over this slab of meat without his consent were replaced with men. Either young men...or Harvey Weinstein look-a-likes, take your pick.
What would the response to the ad be then?
Oh, and apparently ads promote unhealthy ideas of physical perfection in women only. Yet I can't say I've seen many men in RL who are as improbably chiselled as this chap, who probably spends hours in the gym every day.
I've seen a lot of ads recently actually where the whole punchline is women just laughing at a muscular, naked man running around in embarrassment. Or watching him from afar like this. Why is no one crying sexism over all of this?
Sigh.
