"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Hey, I hate to post a problem as a first post, but since others may be like me, I think that it could help them too.

Alright, here's whats up:

I think of myself as a semi-AFC. I tend to do C&F pretty well, and around guys I have no problem being the life of the party. But I still have some trouble with the ladies. Also I have caught myself being real needy lately, but I'm fixing that by cutting off contact. I outwrdly seem confident, but truthfully when someone pokes fun at me it really bugs me. I have to work on self affirmation I guess.

Here's my main problem. I think that I seem like a dork. This isn't just my opinion, others have told me that I am one too, and several girls that are friends have said that I am wierd. In a lovable way, but still wierd.

Wierd=unbangable, so what do I do?

I seem to get self conscious and awkward easily, dropping sh!t, bumping into things, and portraying the image of a dork. Sort of anti-suave. Is there any cure for this shiety body language? Is it a mental thing, or am I fated to be that independent, unique, cool-but-totally-unattractive-to-ladies guy?

What the hell makes someone a dork anyway?!

(Also, I wear glasses. Is it possible for a guy to be suave and cool and still wear glasses?)

I wear glasses.

Girls find me more attractive with them than without. Apparently squinting in the light and standing too close to everything isn't very becoming.

Ya i have some similar problems. Good eyes but big feet so i usually hit something or someone with them here and there.
I dono but it sounds like some better eye hand cordnation as well as watching where your going work would help.

Eye-hand would increase by just playing with some throwable object when your bored or playing First Person Shooter comptuer games (Consols dont count. Gamepads just dont do that same pinpoint fealing)

As for bumping into things well, i dono  like i said i do that often but it helps just to be aware of your suroundings and work at being fluid to avoid stuff just enouth not to run into it.
(hmm some thinking of a practice could be to walk where there are crowds of people walking along and just work at not bumping into any of them. Not sure if it would work but heh u never know.)

Anyway thats my .02 hope something here helps.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

The solution is to participate in sports. In a serious hard-core way, not just casually here and there.

Get into track and field, football, whatever.

Dorkism is the result of poor bodily confidence and coordination.

Sports teach you not to deliberate and think about the movement of your body, but just do it.

I was a dork at a young age. Becoming a serious runner turned me into a smooth, coordinated guy who appears comfortable in his body and executes movements with grace. I can dance well, and copy people's movements naturally. Simple running did that: the cumulative result of thousands of miles of just letting your body move in a coordinated way. I take some 100,000 steps in a week, and don't trip once or bump into anything, even going through crowded areas.

One time I was hiking down a mountain. Some toursists were daintily going in the same direction, slowly steadying their feet on a section of some some steep rocks. They were moving one foot at a time from stone to stone, inch by inch, hesitating, waving their arms, stumbling. I just whipped by them, leaping and bounding from rock to rock like a rubber ball. I never even had two feet on the rocks at the same time; I basically just flew through the air and repelled off the rocks. It didn't even occur to me that I could lose my footing and fall, because I actually had no footing. I was just in a blank state of mind. The contrast between the two behaviors made a deep impression on me, like wow, what a difference it makes to have that physical confidence and the coordination to back it.

Dorkism is caused by the fact that consciousness occurs 500 milliseconds (half a second) after the stimulus. Everything you see, hear and touch happened half a second ago. When you react to things consciously, you are half a second too late in your awareness, and then even more late in the execution of the corrective action.

The dorky baseball player waits to be aware of the ball passing in front of him and then consciously decides to strike. Of course, the ball is gone already; the moment you are aware of its location, it's actually half a second farther in its flight path. The non-dork behaves in a subconscious way. He moves his body in the right way, and then half a second later he becomes conscious that he did the right movement and the ball was struck.

It's the same with those rocks. You cannot run across them while consciously planning where you are going to plant your feet and consciously correcting your balance. No way, it has to subconscious. Your consciousness is just aware of the end result, and can even be disconnected -- your mind can wander while your body still does the right thing.

Other than sports, to be smooth you have to practice being smooth. Practice pushes conscious actions into the subconscious, where they become efficient. When you learn any new skill, it is awkward. Playing a musical instrument, whatever. You take some required action, and then dorkily wait to become conscious of the result. You analyze the result, adjust the action and try again. You daintily draw the bow across the violin string, become conscious that the note is flat, move the finger, daintily move the bow again. The violin master will make one stroke across the string, and before he's conscious of the sound, the finger will already be adjusting to the right pitch. He internalized that a long time ago into the subconscious through repeated practice.

Good advice. While you are practicing try not to take yourself too seriously. I had a friend that loved laughing at other people's misfortune. He thought it was the funniest thing. He was polite enough not to laugh at other people in front of them, unless it was himself. If something bad happened to him he would laugh till he cried. Other people would realize it was OK to laugh because he was laughing. After a while he learned to make it appear something bad had happened to himself and he would laugh and laugh. Lots of girls would ask me when they could see him again. His best ones were straw in the eye and walking into thin pieces of metal (they make the best noise).

I still laugh when I see a low street sign. I know if he was there he would hit it when noone was looking then hold his head and walk funny.

The point, awkwardness can be turned into an advantage. Train yourself out of it and someday you can choose when you want to use it.

Haha... WTF was that, fuzz? Hahaha

That's the most ridiculous and yet the most noble thing I've ever heard. :)

I'm off to download porn. Let's see if what you say is true.
