"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

She cries about other matters and im always straightforward. I tell her that she should do what she think is right and that she is the only one who can rectify her life. That she shouldnt blame others and should look at herself.

I said this and she just repeats herself. In the end shes like 'your annoying' lol. Im trying to help i dont get it. Yes im blunt but im not her emotional tampon.

Shes done this quite a few times and its annoying.

I admit that her getting upset probably stems from me making her insecure by picking on her flaws. She mentioned it tiday in a long essay typed text. I replied by telling her i understand and that i admit i make remarks that are below the belt.

How do you deal with your girl spilling her emotions and problems out to you? I dont want to be her therapist. Am i looking at this the wrong way?

____________

OP is her girlfriend not her therapist.

And this is about the fifth time he has done this.

If you don't know by now that you shouldn't do stuff like this or if you do that you are expected to listen only, you are just engaging is repetitive stress disorder for masochistic purposes.
