When ovulating there will be a relaease of hormones (in my language the name of this hormone is something with "horny" in it) which causes the woman to get horny. This is during the time when she's most furtile. If you know when she start her menstruating, you can calculate when she gets more horny then usual.

Boy does it ever in some women. But not all.

One of my ex's would be the happiest over-the-top excited sweety for half her cycle, and the most depressed b*tchy pain in the rear the other half. She was super horny all the time though. It was a nightmare to handle, but what a rush. lol

Another got extra horny while she was ovulating, and during her period. The rest of the time was average.

Another was only horny while ovulating and before her period, near zilch libido the rest of the time. Additionally she was extra cuddly and emotional in the half-cycle before she ovulated, and distant and logical in the other half.

The two others were smooth sailing (and continuously horny ) all the time. No noticeable changes.

The hormone is called progesterone. Hope this helps.

Women get *****y and moody and cranky when they're ragging because of the hormones and the cramps and the bloating and the fact that they can't wear white shorts. Aaaah it sounds great to be female huh? I know all the DJs are jealous now

Of course, every chick is different. Some aren't affected by PMS at all... and some have horribly drastic mood swings. (Ah wouldn't you love to know which women are which before you start dating them?)

But based on myself and what my friends have told me, I'd say that women are less horny right before and at the beginning of their periods... mostly because they just like crap. I think the last two days of a girl's period is when she is horniest, because of the hormones and the fact that she's had to wait 5-7 days for some booty (unless you have "sex on ice" ew). If you catch a girl the day after her period has ended you're in for some fun probably.

A biological reason why women might be horny or whatever when or right before she's ovulating (usually at the middle of the cycle, about 2 weeks after the period... of course every one's cycle is different though) is so she will have sex and likely reproduce. (Nature's own little cruel joke huh?)

In one sentence, yes we do, and a lot of the time, we don't even see it. So don't point it out if you like having arms.

I saw an interesting programme once showing a study at a univeristy. They took a set of photos of lots of guys faces. They then used computer graphics to make one set of photos in which the guys looked more masculine (widened their jaws, made their foreheads more pronounced, etc), and another set of photos where they feminised the men, making them look more boyish and sensitive.

Then they got 20 young women to look at both sets of photos all randomly jumbled up, and make a note of which guys they were attracted to, and which guys would make good potential longterm partners. They did this twice, once when the girls were menstruating, and once when they were ovulating. They found that during ovulation (most likely to conceive), the women were much more attracted to the masculine photos, whilst during menstruation they were atracted to the boyish photos. They boyish photos were also seen as the best longterm bet (less threatening, more likely to be faithful etc).

Here's some more interesting research on how women choose masculine looking men as good longterm potential when on the pill, but feminine men when not. Feminine men are seen as more trustworthy and less threatening but their attraction feelings are altered by the pill:

Basically, as far as biology goes, it says that women are hardwired to look for a wimp for a husband, and to cheat on him during their fertile phases with a rugged guy, so her children have the best of both worlds - nice reliable father figure, but genes of a 'real man'.

At a fundamental biological level, yes. In the same way that guys are hardwired to spread their seed around as much as possible whilst avoiding the effort of rearing the kids.

However, we're more than just biological drones, so plenty of other factors come into play too.

I thought it was interesting how the experiment showed that the woman's cycle and contraception (hormone levels) affected how she saw the men in the photos and how she felt about them, and it's worth knowing.

Not necessarily. But maybe he's never had a steady girlfriend before...

I got my first steady girlfriend at 19. She was one my my"smooth sailing and always horny" cases. Were together for 2 years. Was with my 2nd for 11, same situation. My 3rd girlfriend was the first women I got intimately involved with who had any noticeable cyclic variation. I was 34 by then... Maybe I was lucky?

Something I've noticed. The wilder a woman's mood swings during PMS, the more generally emotionally f*cked up she tends to be.

Not sure if she's f*cked up because of the PMS, or whether being f*cked up came first. Either way, it sucks to be around it.

Interesting that you mention that, because the only woman I've known with major cyclic mood swings fits your profile perfectly. The one I described as:

She was so emotionally messed up that even I had trouble dealing with her. And I was an expert therapist/AFC type. I mean this woman could go from incredibly happy to aggressive b*tch to sobbing depressed baby all in the same day. She had some big-time psycological and past relationship issues. And a pretty messed up childhood. Hmm....
