"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

doc love's ideas i think are pretty much right on. however he leads you to find a LTR. has anyone adapted his stuff to pick ups?

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

Doc's stuff isn't for pickups per se, it's for qualifying and keeping LTRs.

Yo Drmeathead, I agree.

Doc's views are on point in my opinion. But the most valulable uses I've found for his philosophies during a pickup lend themselves more to defensive strategy rather than offensive.

His ruthless interest level recognition factor goes a long way in saving me time when it comes to guaging IMMEDIATELY how a first approach (sarge) is progressing. Thanks mostly to Doc, I've lately been able to put my ego aside and judge non-emotionally how receptive a woman is to my initial advances.

By paying attention to her body language, her hesitation (or lack thereof) to give me her time or her PHONE NUMBER, and how much she's willing to "help" me make her acquaintance, I'm able to decide almost RIGHT AWAY whether the chick has ANY worthwhile interest at all in me.

Women who are interested have OPEN body language. Women who don't run away from you, but instead, actively participate in the conversation are interested in you. And women who give you THEIR number rather than just offer to take yours are interested in you.

Now, are these women interested enough in you to start an LTR with? At this point, you don't know. But what you DO know is that she's at least 60% interested in you, and that's a promising enough start to pursue getting to know her further. A woman with at least 60% intitial interest in you is probably at least willing to explore getting to know you further past your point of introduction.

Why do I say this? Because, usually, I've found that if a woman exhibits closed body language on my approach, or if she doesn't "help" me continue having a conversation with her, or if she asks for MY number instead of giving me hers, she's NOT that into me in the first place.

Therefore, she represents an uphill battle for me. Which leaves me no leverage, and very few compelling reasons beyond my own interest level in HER to justify pursuing her. This is what Doc Love would call The Bottom Line Factor.

This BOTTOM LINE FACTOR, this conscious decision to put my ego aside when I'm looking for evidence of a woman's initial attraction to me, has saved me from wasting my time when it comes to picking up women moreso than any other of Doc Love's principles that come to mind.

March on.

he's a behavioral scientist

I'm a huge fan of Doc Love's show and book. His ideas radically transform the way I look at women. I think we can internalize a lot of this PUA stuff from sites, e-books, e-letters, but ultimately we're still responsible as men for self-improvement and eliminating slip ups in the sarge.

Women who are looking for a LTR will be screening men and looking for strength and weaknesses.

I used to get a lot of #/@closes that flaked when trying to setup day2s. I would honestly think they really were "busy" or that "something came up." Now, I know better in what interest level is invested in towards me.

Sure, it hurts our egos to know a chick isn't that into us... but it saves us money, heartbreak, and wasted time in the long haul.

Body language/tonality, and frequency of contact shows her interest level towards us DJs.

The biggest attractive thing we can do to keep the woman coming is not acting needy and remaining a challenge.

I've always found once you give the woman the house and all the keys to it, she always bails first. That's not to say I lead them on now, but I let them now I have options and not afraid of being alone and that the woman can count on me to be reliable and constantly self-improving.

I've ditched all my PUA material, and am sticking with Doc, because to me personaly I benefit more from LTRs than ONS. To each their own ;)

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.
